Kingsley's POV
Arriving at the parking lot, we weaved through the mess of cars to try and find a parking space. It was still an hour before the game started, but the parking lot looked as if it was already half full. Thankfully, Ben found a parking spot in the third row that was right in front of the entrance.
We hopped out of his truck and started walking up to the field. Looking at the field, I finally saw just how big it was. The field had a reddish-brown track around it with multiple rows of bleachers on either side. The field was bright green. It was neatly rolled turf instead of real grass, so they didn't have to worry about maintaining the grass.
I looked through the fence to see the sea of blue and red on the home side. On the right was the away side reserved for the residents of the Timberwolves. There were a lot more people than I had imagined. Grant it, this school has over 400 students enrolled.
Ben and I passed the line of people waiting to check in and pay. Since we were students, we didn't have to pay to get in.
As we walked, I saw the gaggle of people gawk at me. Of course, I knew this was going to happen, so I simply put my hand up and waved as I smiled at every one of the starstruck teens, kids, and adults. Even the two girls at the ticket booth stopped to stare at me, even though I had been in school for a few days now. I guess not everyone can get used to it right away.
We crossed the fence and entered the dome.
Cheers could be heard from all sides of the football field. The stands were packed with four vibrant colors shining through: red and blue on the left, green and gold on the right. I saw people waving flags high in the air as their entire heads were smeared with face paint. Various shapes and colors of pom poms and cheer cones could be seen all around us as we walked to the side that said "Home of the Skyline Raiders"
Someone from the visitors' side recognized me because suddenly, their side erupted into cheers louder than before as multiple people in the front seats pointed toward me.
I looked over in the direction of the Timberwolves' side and smiled as I waved. The crowd grew louder if that was even possible. I guess seeing a celebrity in person, even if from afar, is cooler than your football team. Who aren't even too good according to Ben?
"Okay superstar, we better go get our seats before they're all taken," Ben said as he slightly tugged on my arm.
I chuckled as I waved across the field one last time. "Yeah, and I'm sure that so many of these people would love to have the pleasure of having the Kingsley Kurtis sit in the seat they were sitting at."
Ben just rolled his eyes and audibly scoffed as he started dragging me up the bleachers.
As we continued to ascend the stairs, I heard various whoops and hollers directed at me. Some people held their hands out for me to high-five them, which I did, and others patted me on the back. We kept going up until we reached the middle of the stands and turned left. Ben went over to a guy, who I soon recognized as Kai. Kai moved his backpack from the bench to the floor, making room for me and Ben.
We sat down and I looked around Kai, realizing that none of the 'group' was with him.
"Hey Kai, where's everyone else?" I asked, looking around him one more time to ensure nobody else was there.
"Marcel's in the game, Madi said she was going to be here soon, and Freya and Kelly are well... you know." He replied, and motioned to the locker room.
I nodded my head and made an 'oh' shape with my mouth. Of course, she's cheering. She's literally the cheer captain. I'm so fucking stupid. God, I can't even get her out of my head.
