Chapter 48

Got gifted a red turtleneck so I shot my shot and took the opportunity. Got called hot twice, was definitely worth it.

It was a long night where Stanford and I made up all kinds of theories on what could have happened to Bill Cipher.
Was he alive? Was he not? We don't know for sure.

But Ford assured me, that he probably wasn't in Stanley's mind anymore, since that should have been noticeable. Wether this is a good thing or not though... Well...

But I'll need to push those thoughts aside for now. Because Eleanore was going to come over this morning and I helped Stanley prepare everything. We made a whole lot of breakfast and had to fight off Mabel, or else she would have eaten everything right away.

It knocked on the door three times.
"That must be her.", Dipper commented.

Stanford opened the door as I stood next to him.
"You must be Eleanore. Greetings, my name is Stanford Pines.", he said and put out his hand, which our guest slowly took to shake.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all.", she said looking at us inside the Shack. I smiled at her.
"Please, come in.", I said and motioned towards the kitchen.

"Oh did you all prepare that for me?", she said as she saw the table filled with food.
Mabel giggled. "Of course."

"So what you're saying is, that the whole creature looked like a normal deer, just with some bird parts?", I asked, noting everything down in my notebook.
"Yes! I was watching a group of real deer when suddenly, this monstrosity jumped in front of me. I took a picture at that exact moment. You've probably already seen it, I assume?"

"That's correct.", Stanford nodded.
"Any other details you'd be able to recall?", I asked, looking up from my notes again.

Eleanore thought for a moment. "Not really. It flew away immediately. But I remember its mouth looking huge."
I nodded and began to write again.

"Where'd you meet the deer?", Dipper asked.
"In the forest. I was on a hiking trip near the diner."
"Were there any more of them?", Mabel asked, to which Eleanore shook her head.

"I believe that is everything I can tell you. I'm sorry. But the food was nice, thank you.", she smiled.
"We need to thank you, honestly.", I replied.

We headed towards the forest part near the diner.
„Do you really think that this... thing is still in the same place?", Dipper asked his great uncle.
Ford kept looking ahead. „Of course, I can't be sure. In fact, I'm more likely to assume that it's long gone. But it is, after all, our only clue."

I nodded. „Maybe we're lucky, who knows."
Dipper sighed, as that was not the answer he was hoping for.

„Either way, look on the bright side! We are going on a family trip for the first time in a long time again! Well, almost. Hey, why didn't Stanley come with us? I thought he would be excited about new creatures by now.", Mabel spoke up.

„Yeah, weren't you guys sailing over the ocean together just to find abnormalities? I thought he'd like those by now.", Dipper agreed.

„He did enjoy the whole thing. I think.. But still his interests lay rather with the women and treasures, and not with the abnormalities. But who can blame him, he was stuck in Gravity Falls for ages before I was freed from the portal.", Ford explained.
We were only humming at his answer, there being nothing left to say.
