Silence filled the atmosphere as we were walking back to the Mystery Shack. None of us said a single word after our short conversation.
But we were walking for a pretty long while now and I began to feel bad for Ford, since he came all the way here to find me.
I still didn't dare to say anything, though.
I couldn't read his face. Maybe he was just in thoughts, but my mind told me that he was pissed off.

I gulped and looked at my shoes again.
"That Place...", he then started. I still kept looking down.
"I used to go there very often as I firstly came to Gravity Falls.", he ended his sentence after a short pause. I finally dared to look him in the face again. He wasn't looking at me. Actually, he was looking straight forward. But he had a small smile drawn onto his lips.

"Why did you stop going there?", I honestly wanted to know.
He seemed to think for a few seconds again. "I was probably too worked up with my research. Time flew by and I forgot about that place. I didn't even remember how to get there. It was such a beautiful coincidence that you landed there today."

I smiled. "Now that you know where it is, you can finally go there again, no?"
Ford suddenly looked at me with a warm smile.
"Indeed, that would be nice."
I slightly blushed and quickly looked forward again. Geez, what is wrong with me??

We fell into a long lasting silence again. Our footsteps in the mud were the only thing to be heard. It was completely silent. And dark, that's for sure. The moon and the stars were still the only thing lighting our way.

But soon enough, we reached the Mystery Shack. My shoes were full of mud now.
Ford opened the door and held it open for me.
I glanced up at him with a smile. "Thank you."

After I walked through the door, I stepped to the side and just stood there. Ford closed the door behind him and stood still in front of me as well.
He looked like he wanted to tell me something. But he didn't.

"Ford... I know it's annoying that I always apologise but... I can't help but feel sorry again and again for what happened.", I then said.
For a really short moment he just looked at me.

"It doesn't matter, honestly. In a matter of fact, I am the one who should apologise. I should have stayed with you today. And There are still a lot of things I need to tell you. If you're free tonight, you can come down my lab so we can talk.", he suggested.
Tonight? Talk?
I blushed again and slowly nodded.
"That would be great. I'm just going to take a shower if that's okay."
He flushed and nodded. "Alright. You can come to me whenever you're ready."

With that, he walked towards the vending machine and with a last smile towards me, he went downstairs.
At that time, my face was already a whole tomato.

*timescip

I stepped out of the bathroom, wearing new and more comfier clothes. It was pretty late by now but I continued my way towards the vending machine. I hesitated but with a sigh I entered the code.

Stanford's point of view:

I was sitting at my desk, paperwork all over the place. I had my pen in my hand and twirled it between my fingers. A habit of mine.
I couldn't concentrate at least a bit. I really hope that the upcoming conversation is going to help me clear up.

... thinking of which, I clearly just heard the vending machine open.
And shortly after Y/N walked down the stairs. Her hair was still a bit wet.
I cleared my throat and stood up awkwardly.
How do I start this conversation anyways?

"Hey.", she greeted me with a smile.
I returned her smile.
"What did you want to talk about?", she asked.
Ah, straight to the point, I see.
