Kenma did not think of his younger self as shy, maybe just too quiet, and not good with words. In that sense, sometimes he seemed rude or nonchalant and people took offense even when he explained his case - and it got to a point where he just left it alone. He couldn't care less about what the person next to him thought or if someone misunderstood him because explaining it got him nowhere.

But it was different when it came to Y/n. Words flew out his mouth easily and he never had to worry about her misunderstanding him. She was special to him in that way, because someone other than Kuroo finally understood. So he would say now that she always had a place in his heart. And it was weird for little him to feel these things - why didn't he feel the same he did with Kuroo when he was around her? She was special. But the different feelings made him anxious, like how they still do now. He still over-thought a lot and kept Kuroo as his best friend - so he really couldn't say that much had changed for him as things did for her.

So when he suggested for them to do something alone, like a picnic, over meeting everyone later - he expected her to say no. She was more social among the two and liked going places with people. And sure, he would go, but not if he didn't have to; so he suggested it so he could way his options - and see if he could spend more time alone with her than he already had.

But she agreed with him. "It's a date." she said, responding to his offer with a grin before exiting the room. The statement made him weak, another one of the many things she did to him. He wouldn't deny any of it either if he was asked - she really did make him weak. Little things that she did made him fall in love with her even more - just her in general.

So they did a picnic. In the park that they went to last time, further back away from people to avoid crowds. They bought snacks from a store and some pastries from a bakery. She laid her head in his lap as he played a game on his phone - it was quiet. Not that she minded, it was a content silence that could be broken at any given moment, so she enjoyed it.

She enjoyed watching him as he played on his phone. His tiny pouts or scoffs whenever he lost and his smile whenever he won - she found all of it mesmerizing how beautiful he was. She studied him more like she was in some sort of trance - he was so interesting to watch. Like her favorite show, she couldn't stop watching him.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Kenma mumbled before looking up from his phone screen to the girl on his lap. Now don't get him wrong, he didn't mind her looking at him, but she had been doing it for a while so he just wanted to see if something was wrong. She shook her head saying that nothing was wrong before getting up and changing her position on Kenma. Instead of laying on his lap, she was now in front of him sitting on his lap.

"What game were you playing?" she asked while taking his phone and beginning to play the game herself. His hands moved slowly to her waist as his eyes focused on her. He studied her the same way she had studied him earlier. His eyes caught and saw everything on her. She was seen as flawless under his gaze. But he found himself looking at her lips more and more. She wore just the right amount of lipgloss to make them stand out. He couldn't help but look at them.

When was the last time he kissed her?

He couldn't recall and the thought made him frown in the slightest.

Right now, he wanted to kiss her, because now that he thought about it, he hadn't kissed her in a long time. Was there a chance to do it before? he didn't even know. But he knew that the longer his gaze focused on her lips, the more he urged to kiss them.

It was time for her to return the question that he asked her earlier now. His gaze was heavy on her face, so when she asked him, "Why are you staring at me like that?" it wasn't shocking to her that he didn't answer. He had his eyes heavily set on her lips - like he wanted to have them. She placed his phone beside her and the subtle movement snapped Kenma out of his daydream.

But that didn't mean that the feelings he felt went away. If anything - they got worse.

Kenma sat up a bit and pulled her closer to him. Their faces were only inches apart now. Kenma moved one hand off her waist and placed it on her cheek, pulling her even closer to him.

"Can I kiss you?" he said looking into her eyes for a sure answer. She was shocked at the gesture but nonetheless nodded her head to say yes. She was at loss for words with Kenma's new behavior - but she wasn't really complaining.

He smiled a bit, before kissing her lips. She was shocked at first, but eventually, she kissed him back and their lips moved in sync. His lips felt warm on hers and she couldn't help but smile into the kiss.

She missed this.

Her hands wrapped around his neck and he deepened the kiss by bringing her even closer to him. It was a foreign feeling and a feeling that they both missed deeply - but they couldn't name the feeling. What they did know, is that they enjoyed it, and they knew not to overdo it.

Kenma pulled away from the kiss slowly with a small smile on his face. He placed a few small pecks on her lips before placing his forehead on hers. And they stayed in that position for a while - just looking into each other's eyes with a small smile.

She broke contact by closing her eyes and looking up to the sky, a smile still clear on her face. All he could do was stare at her, his look of adoration, though he didn't say anything - spoke through his eyes whenever he looked at her. He couldn't stop looking at her.

But he hoped that he wasn't coming off as weird for staring. He had hoped that she saw the love that he had for her in his eyes and that she'd always have that smile on her face as long as she was with him. That was all he could ask for.

"What?" she furrowed her eyebrows as soon as the question left her mouth. He was staring, a lot - but she didn't mind. She just wanted to know why. Since she could recall, while being out at the picnic, his eyes were on her.

He smiled while shaking his head, "It's nothing." He glanced up to where she was looking before and then looked at her. Direct eye contact, again.

"You're just really pretty." he murmured before placing a kiss on her forehead, another one on the tip of her nose, and the last quickly on her lips. She laughed at his gestures - it was really sweet of him.

"Let's finish this picnic, shall we?"
