Despite both being driven and ambitious men, Larry and Laurent seemed to fall into a natural rhythm as the weeks went by. But after all they'd been through, they never took one another's presence for granted. Laurent made time to go to Larry's classes as often as possible, and Larry had become something of a main attraction on the dancefloor at Envy, even getting Laurent to join him every now and then.

Another regular fixture at the center was Caroline. After getting her set up with everything she needed, the guys had dropped the subject in order to give her time to really figure things out for herself. For the most part, they treated her like everyone else, difficult as that may be.

It was only when they were alone that they talked about all the possibilities, both good and bad...

Laurent stood in the doorway a moment as Larry sat at the breakfast bar, pushing his food around his plate absentmindedly. Larry often got lost in thought these days, and Laurent hated seeing him so worried. He'd been unable to protect Larry from so much heartbreak, and he dreaded the idea of watching it happen again.

"Whatcha doin'?" Laurent asked as he approached, and Larry's head popped up, revealing that beautiful, sweet smile.

"Nothing," he answered, dropping the fork and turning on his barstool to face Laurent.

Wrapping their arms around one another, Larry buried his face in Laurent's neck with a deep breath. That never gets old, Laurent thought to himself as he slipped his fingers into Larry's hair and cradled the back of his head. That connection was just as much Laurent's safe place as it was Larry's.

"I wanna run something by you," Laurent said cautiously, causing Larry to lift his head with suspicious eyes.

"Okaaaaay," he replied.

Laughing softly, Laurent put his hand to Larry's cheek.

"It's nothing bad. I just had an idea for you. But it would be totally up to you."

With a lifted eyebrow and slightly less suspicion, Larry tilted his head. "Okay, what idea?"

Laurent pressed a kiss to Larry's lips with a grin. The man really had no idea how cute he could be, especially with a threatening eyebrow.

"Have you ever considered your own studio and your own foundation? You work so hard to keep some of these smaller programs alive, but you could consolidate them, bring good people on board and help them work together, and set up a combination of paid classes and community outreach."

As expected, Larry stared at him, blinking slowly, and Laurent fought the urge to burst out laughing.

"My own...stu— And foundation," Larry repeated. "Lau, I don't know how to do any of that."

"Yes, you do," Laurent answered softly, pushing Larry's hair from his forehead. "You never give yourself enough credit. I could help with the real estate and get you off the ground. You hire whoever you want and teach them your methods. You'd be self-sustaining in no time. And it would give you the ability to offer scholarship programs to kids like you...the ones who have talent and not much else. No more stupid decisions by bureaucrats who know nothing about dance or about kids in need. No more putting up with people who are there for the wrong reasons. And you could finally spread your methods and make a difference beyond that one little community center."

Laurent could see Larry's wheels spinning, and he hated that Larry's first instinct was to try to squash the hope and excitement that sprouted in his eyes.

"I don't know. I wouldn't want you to put your money into something like that when I'd have no idea what I'm doing. And we don't know what's gonna happen with Caroline..." he trailed off, unwilling to even use the word baby out loud because he worked so hard not to get his hopes up.
