It was a brisk, snowy Monday in January. I was gazing out one of my windows in my living room, at the white snowflakes that were falling. I glanced at the clock on the table beside the couch, then turned back to the window as the snow began to coat the ground in a white blanket. I got up but then turned back to the window. I saw an RV parked across the street from my house. What was an Rv doing at my house? I watched as someone stepped out of the RV and began to walk towards my front door. The person looked so familiar. Who was it? I wondered. Was it someone from Top Jump or was it a ninja? I studied the girl till she got out of sight, but before I had time to do any more thinking, I heard a familiar knock on my front door. I laughed as I walked to the door. Whoever it is must love Disney. I walked to the door and opened it.
Me: Hello, may I help you?
Kirstin Maldonado: Hello, my name is Kirstin Maldonado. You may have heard of me or maybe not, but I am a member of the band Pentatonix. Again you may have never even heard of us but anyway we need help.
I just stood there, staring at this girl standing in my doorway, not noticing the bruise on her hand, the bruise on her right wrist, the cut just below her neck, and the cut on her left wrist. I thought Why is Kirstin here? I shook myself out of my thoughts
Me: I do know who Pentatonix is and I know who you are.
I noticed that she almost seemed a little hesitant as if she had tried asking for help before, but something had happened causing the fear that I may not agree to help them or her. She took a deep breath which made me wonder what could've happened. That is if something did happen.
Kirstin: We had to cancel the rest of our tour because of this storm. Would you be so kind as in letting us stay, just until the storm goes away and allows us to go home?
The way she said it almost shocked me. Her voice sounded afraid and unsure as well as, quietly and softly. I could tell that she added the last part like she needed to say anything else. I was going to agree to help her anyway no matter what the request was. If they need my help all they have to do is ask. Therefore, I answered with deep concern creeping into my voice.
Me: Of course, you can. This storm is expected to get worse in the next few days, so we could get snowed in. I wouldn't even think about allowing y'all to go any further than here. It's worse the closer you get to the Mississippi River.
I smiled hoping that it would get rid of the uncertainty that somehow was creeping into my mind. I held in a sigh of relief when I noticed Kirstin smiling. That feeling soon subsided when I heard her response.
Kirstin: I will go tell them the great news! Thank you so much. You don't even know how much this means to us and to me.
Me: Okay, Kirstin.
I watched with deep concern in my mind and body. It almost gave me a sickening feeling. I shuddered and hoped that Kirstin didn't see it. My mind raced as I wondered why they were in Pigeon Forge. I looked at the RV for a clue or idea of what could have happened to cause Kirstin to ask the way that she did. My mind fogged with a sickening thought. Had someone injured her because of this request? Why was she being so skittish? I was still lost in thought when I felt a firm hand on my shoulder. I shook myself out of my thoughts then looked at whose hand it was and to my surprise, it was Scott Hoying. His eyes were filled with concern.
Scott Hoying: Are you okay? You looked a little uncertain or afraid of something.
Me: Oh sorry, I must have just been lost in thought. You must be Scott Hoying?
Scott: Yes I am. Are you sure though?
Me: Yes, I am 100% positive that I am okay.
Scott: Okay. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay, we really appreciate it.
