I jumped awake again, this time my heart was pounding. I felt a hand on my shoulder which didn't help my worry. I turned to see Scott standing there with worried eyes.

Scott: Sorry to wake you, but I need to talk to you about something.

By the sound of his tone, I immediately turned my lamp on and sat up straighter. This was it. I was about to learn what really happened even though I felt like I was going to if Kirstin was able to finish her story. Scott sat on my bed and I took a deep breath, preparing myself for what I was about to hear. Scott closed his eyes and took a deep breath before looking at me.

Scott: Where did Kirstin leave off?

Me: At the part where the people weren't home at the house that Mitch tried and the one that you tried.

Scott: Okay. I am sorry for interrupting her. She had wanted to tell you but she couldn't find a good time to do it. Anyways, Kirstin had pleaded with me to allow her to try and that she could do it. I allowed her only if she promised to be careful. She promised me so I let her. The house she went into I felt a little uneasy so Mitch suggested that we drive around to allow me to relax.

Scott paused and I could tell that he was regretting that decision allowing that to happen. Was he blaming himself for whatever happened? All the uncertainty from the past three days turned into compassion. Now I had to convince Scott that it's not his fault. All the uncertainty that they wouldn't trust me turned into care and concern. I remained quiet, not sure how to handle this. He looked at the floor before continuing.

Scott: This next part is what Kirstin told me. When she went into the house the man led her to the kitchen table where she went on to tell the man why she was there. He got really angry and got up then went over to a drawer and pulled out a meat fork. He threw the fork at Kirstin and luckily it just grazed her. Then when she stood up after a moment or two he grabbed her forcefully by the wrist and pulled her towards the exit but then thrust her against the stove. In reaction, her hand landed on a pot handle and the water inside the pot splashed all over her back. The water was scalding hot. It burned her severely which later caused her to go into shock, which made her go into cardiac arrest. After that, he went and acquired a sharp knife. He went to stab her in the back but slipped on the water and stabbed her thigh instead.

He paused again. I suddenly realized that this was hard for him to tell me but I wasn't going to try to stop him because he was the one to tell me even though I sorta asked last night. With his pause, I tried to comprehend what I just heard. That does sound like the Peterson's though. A meat fork is sharper than a dinner or salad fork so it cut her which I feel like that is what the cut just below her neck was from. The bruise could be from how he grabbed her so hard. That would make sense. I couldn't even imagine the pain she must have gone through when the hot water splashed onto her back. Now I could see why Scott was so worried Monday night. Wait, does that mean Kirstin is still having pain? Did I push her too hard on Tuesday? Was going to Wonder Works and everywhere else too much for her? Then it hit me like a bullet train going full speed. The girl from my dreams was Kirstin and the part where she died was when she went into cardiac arrest. The person in the car must have been Scott or Mitch. It all made sense now in a painful way. Because the injuries that Scott had just told me about matched what the girl that died in my dreams had. I had seen a terrible burn on the back of her neck but didn't look at what that could be from or how bad it was. I had seen a puncture wound as if someone had stabbed the person that died in front of me on her thigh, where Kirstin had been stabbed. Wait, Jason Peterson was going to stab Kirstin in her back after she had just been severely burned. I am partially glad that he did slip. She would have died if that had happened. I shuddered and realized that the reason why they were at my house was because they didn't know if Kirstin would travel well. I looked at Scott wanting him to continue.
