Chapter 3: Kale

It's been a month since I started the new year in school. A lot has happened in the past month well in school life it has. If you are a teenager you will know what I mean about a school life. Many of us tend to have the same friends and the same way of looking at life in school and in the world. A few of us however keep our school lives and personal lives separate.

LAST TUESDAY...
I got to school like I normally would, drive. I got in early and I went to registration, Kale wasn't there, I just assumed it was because I was early. I sat there until everyone piled in. Still no Kale. I texted him to ask him where he was, usually he would text back straight away, he never did. Miss West came into the classroom and took the register.

"Kale?" No answer.

"Kale Wood?" Silence.

"Olivia where is Kale?" I shrugged my shoulders, I had no idea, he never missed a day of school, EVER.

The bell went and I went to my classes in the morning as per usual. Still no word off Kale. I went through the morning worrying, I heard off him everyday. During the first break, I sat in my car, trying to get a hold of Kale. NOTHING.

I had a full day of lessons for a change, I decided during lunch I was going to go to his house, just to make sure he was okay. I pulled up to his house. His car was there, but his parents weren't. I knocked on the door, no answer. I tried to ring the phone, no answer. I thought maybe there was a family emergency and he had just left everything. I went back to school and carried on my day. When I got home that night I continued to ring but nothing.

WEDNESDAY...
I woke up thinking about my best friend Kale, I was worried beyond belief and no one knew anything. I couldn't get a hold of him, or his mum. The school kept asking me where he was, I just said I didn't know. No one knew anything, this is normal if you don't worry, parents forgetting to ring he school if the kids are sick or if they have gone somewhere. I just wanted Kale to text me, just to tell me where he was. He will probably waltz in the class and act normal, and I will have a go at him for leaving me. Its probably nothing but it's Kale. You don't know how much I miss him when I'm not with him. Again I went through the whole day without hearing anything from Kale.

THURSDAY...
I was now extremely worried about Kale, I had heard nothing from him. Little did I know that today was going to be one of the worst days of my life. I did my usual routine and got to school. School was normal when I got there. I sat down in registration when Miss West walked in.

"Hey Olivia" she said smiling

"Hi" I said

"What's wrong?" She asked walking towards me.

"Nothing I'm fine" I must have looked sad.

"I can tell something is wrong Olivia" she said looking at me.

"It's just Kale, I haven't heard of him".

That's the point where the buzzer went in the room. The receptionist said,

"Is Olivia Bloom with you? She needs to go to the headmasters office as soon as possible" Miss West looked at me and smiled, she placed her hand on my shoulder.

"It will be okay" and she slightly rubbed my back in a comforting manner. What would be alright? I knew the only thing I could be in trouble is the time I go home, and even if that's it Miss West would deal with that. As I walked to the office all the teachers and staff were looking at me, I didn't exactly understand why, I mean I'm not a paranoid person but I know when someone is staring at me. I walked into the office and the receptionist came behind be and placed her hand on my back and pushed me forward kindly as she opened the door. I saw Kale's mum there, she looked at me, she was crying, she stood up and shook her head. At that moment, I knew, I knew he was gone.
