Alam watches as Mirabel sat on the swing, going back and forth, back and forth. The little girl was in a white dress, socks, and she had ringlet in her hair and a pink bow. In her lap was a giant plushie, a toy bee. The little girl was happily chatting to it.

It was the day after Mirabel's 5th birthday, and Alma couldn't be more relived. Don't get her wrong, she loves her family and she loves their gift, but she noticed that.....She has made some mistakes. Big ones. Bruno getting migraine and passing out, Julieta force to cook from sunrise to sunset without a break, Pepa having to constantly change her emotions at the drop of a dime...And that was just with her children.

So one the day that Mirabel would have received a gift? Alma pray and hope that she, or whatever supernatural powers would give Mirabel a happy and safe gift. And when Mirabel touch her door and it dissolved? Well, Alma was both happy and upset.

Upset that the Casita gave her a door only to have it dissolved in front of the poor girl, and the villagers. But she was happy, now that her granddaughter doesn't have a gift, she can use this option to change. She'll be a better grandmother, a better mother, a better leader. Alma turn toward the village and told them;

"It seem like the Miracle has open my eyes. Because Mirabel didn't get a gift I come to the realization that I've been a bad mother and grandmother. I have been working my family too hard! Look, I've even been have little Camilo, who the same age as Mirabel, go into town and work! That's not right, and certainly not fair. For now on, the Madrigal family will only use their gifts for themselves. If there is an emergency, like a death or a birth, then we will come and help. Tomorrow I'll explain more details. But for now, it's still Mirabel's birthday! Come let's eat and dance! Agustin, music please?"

And so the party continues.

Alma snap out of her memories of yesterday. Today has been....hectic. For one thing she had to gather every villager and explain to them that the Madrigal's aren't going to use their gifts for the town, unless they want to. Alma and the triplets spend the morning and all afternoon talk to the villagers, trying to work out a system. So far everyone agrees to write their problems down on a list. Immediate problems  like a house fire or someone dying would be addressed immediately. But the little things like the church needing more sunlight, that could go on the list and  could be solve by the town.

Finally, after all the meetings were done, the four came back to the Casita. While Alma solve a big problem in leadership she still had problems with her parenting. Alma now has to address her family. She can tell that her poor children have issues, and anxiety. She can see the waves of anxiety roll off of Pepa and Luisa. Oh dear....

Tomorrow she and the family will spend the day talking and coming up with plans to be better, for her to be better. But for now? Alma is enjoying the setting sun, happy watching her youngest granddaughter swing.

After many mistakes, relapses, explaining, high emotions, and going to a therapist. It has been 10 years since the day of Miabel's birthday. It was a sunny day, that being May 21, and the day of Antonio's, their newest family member, and Alma's second grandson, 5th birthday. This time, there is still going to be a celebration, it going to be much, much, smaller than the previous birthdays. Family and friends only.
