A/N: this request is by LadyMaegor who wants Bruno and other Madrigals are mermaids / mermen.

-All of the family are mermaids/merpeople except Mirabel and Alma.
-She a human girl who lives with Alma and she loves the ocean and wants to know if the rumors of mermaid are true.
- Basically it's a reverse little mermaid
-Alma was a human who fell in love with a merman, Pedro, who is a giant squid. Pedro became a human and the two got wed and had children. But Pedro can't live in land  for so long, he gets deadly ill and almost died. So he has to return to the sea. The triple were born with the ability to walk on land and sea, but they grow up in the ocean because during the first few years she also got very sick and Bruno also dies..
-Mirabel is Julieta youngest daughter but was born fully human so she had to live with Alma or she'll die.
- Growing up, Mirabel hear the stories of mermaids but never heard stories of her parents, Alma gets to sad about it. One day on the beach Mirabel find a merman, wash up in the shore and bleeding. She drags him to the sand and take care of him then he takes him home.
- It's Bruno! He's a Cranchiidae squid AKA a glass squid
-Julieta is a dumpling squid AKA a Bobtail squid
- Pepa is a Dumbo Ocotpus
- Mirabel take Bruno home and he and Alma meet, Alma cries and tells Bruno that she's his mother. Apparently Pedro took care of the triplets but die when they become young adults, he never told them we're Alma lived. So the triplets know they had a human mother but couldn't find her. Bruno had a vision about alma and Mirabel and when to find them.

-Felix is a yellow tang and Agustin is a queen angelfish

-Isabela is a lionfish

-Dolores is a Halfmoon Betta Fish

-Luisa is a Colossal squid

-Camilo is a  Metasepia pfefferi AKA flamboyant cuttlefish

-Antonio is a Mandarin Dragonet

-Once Bruno is healed he takes alma and Mirabel to meet the rest of the family. Casita is Alma's home, so. It magical, and it's being foreclosed so the family has to find a way to save the house.

-Alma and Mirabel may or may not became mermaids.

Down in the sea, the family is very strict. Pedro, after so many years of living in the land, because disabled, bad lungs and weak immune system. While the mer-family doesn't have Casita, they do have their magic. But different;

Julieta can still heal and cook, but the way her healing works is by singing or by touch. She can heal if she hold someone hands or just singing to them. She cooks animals or plants.

Pepa doesn't control the weather here, but rather the currents. Whirlpools, earthquakes, tsunamis. She use the moon a lot, many merfolks believe she can control is connected to the moon itself.

Bruno is more like a siren, he still has his visions, but he mostly use it to look out for protection. If a human or a dangerous animals comes close, Bruno gets the bison and has either Luisa or someone else take care of it. Has drown people with his voice and his looks.

Isabela can grow only underwater plants and tress, she mostly use her gift as a way to fortify her home or as weapons. Luisa still has her strength and help Bruno when protection the villagers. Dolores still has her hearing and is training to be a siren, though she didn't want to drawn humans, just to entertain or a storyteller. As for Camilo he doesn't shapeshift rather he can change his colors or make himself invisible. Antonio's can still communicate with animals.

The mer-family still has the Encanto, it's a safe haven for all ocean life and mermaids/merfolks. Mermaid can living for centuries or more but if they exposed to land for a good while they get weak and can die. Since Pedro dies a little before Isabela was born the triplets became the new "rulers" but most of the town listened to Julieta since she the first born.

The types of mermaids come in a big role, since Pedro is the founder of the Encanto, squids, cuttlefish, and octopus are seen as royalty. Sharks and  mammals are seen as the second in common, fish are at the bottom.  So Isabela, Dolores, and Antonio while part of the "royalty family" are treated with not as much respect than Camilo and Luisa.

After Pedro died and Julieta became the new ruler, the triplets bond strained. Julieta went from taking care of the family and some mermaid to rulering then in a week. It didn't help that after their father died Bruno talk a vision he had of two human girls. Then he left after her youngest daughter's 5 birthday.
