Felix
'Do you have everything?'I look up to Damien.
'I think so,' I say. 'You can check if you want.'
I continue tying my shoelaces while Damien leaves my room. He doesn't check my backpack.
Today is the finally the day. It's absolutely pouring outside. It's a weekday. It's not a school holiday or anything like that. We just ate lunch.
It's time for... for what, actually? We're going to the coordinates, sure. But we have no idea what's there. Maybe the circle of stones is the thing we're looking for. Anyway, it's a fun road trip.
London is fun and all, but it's getting a little boring. I've seen most tourist attractions. I've had the entire McDonald's and KFC menu. There isn't much more to do. In a way, this awful weather came as a gift from fate.
I stand up, and reach for my bag. I fling it over one shoulder and leave my room. Damien and Nora are downstairs in the living room.
'Are you ready, Felix?' Nora asks.
'I am.'
I sit down on the couch next to her. She has some rings laid out on the coffee table. Damien is looking through both of their bags.
'You're driving right?' Nora asks me.
'Yes. I'm completely trusting my phone's navigation system.'
'Did you get a driver's license in the time we were here?'
'Not in the time we were here. I got one the last time I visited.'
'Great. You hear that Damien?'
Damien hums.
'There's nothing to worry about,' Nora continues as she puts on a ring.
He hums again. He puts the bags back down on the table.
'I think I'm ready,' he says.
'Great. Let's put on our shoes and coats then,' Nora says.
He nods, and leaves for the door. Next to it is a large shoe rack and hooks on the wall for coats.
'I'm kinda excited,' Nora says. 'Have you been there before?'
'I haven't,' I say.
'I looked at the pictures on the internet. The stones are huge!'
'There are. Have you read about the stories about their origin?'
'I have,' she laughs. 'It's funny to read them, knowing it was just another human.'
'It's not really just another human, though. Is it? Bailey, or whoever on his team who placed them, is still form another world.'
'Of course. I didn't think like that. But still, it's fascinating to read the theories.'
'Nora, your shoes are waiting for you,' Damien says from over by the door.
She looks at me, and rolls her eyes with a smile.
'If you want me to talk to you, you can just say so,' she says while lifting herself off the couch.
She walks over to Damien and puts on her shoes and coat as well. I follow her, and see Damien covered in fabric from head to toe. He's wearing a coat reaching his knees, a scarf and a beanie. His leather Doc Martens cover his ankles.
His fashion sense has somewhat improved during our time here.
I put on my coat as well, and reach for my keys in the pocket. I check my watch; just past twelve. If traffic is good, we should be able to get there before 2:30.
