What does one pack for an epic quest? I don't have a sword or a magic bow and arrow. Nor do I have an animal sidekick. Do I need to bring layers?

I stand in the middle of my room. I have a bunch of clothes laid out on my bed. Different bags and suitcases stand on the floor around me waiting to be picked.

What. Do. I. Pack.

I walk around my room unsure of what to do. I go into my closet once more, but the ceiling doesn't give me any answers. It only shows a square hatch leading to who-knows-where. I take out even more clothes from the closets lining the walls. I lay them on my bed on top of the others. I rearrange some things, and somehow it gets worse.

Maybe it's time to make some decisions. All this contemplating won't lead anywhere. Let's do something useful with my time.

The first thing to decide is as to what type of bag to take with me. Since our way of traveling could involve walking, a suitcase might not be optimal. A backpack will suffice instead. Downside to that, though, is the limited size of them.

I grab my biggest backpack, which was still way to small for all the stuff I'm thinking of bringing, and don't get rid of anything else on the floor. I'll do that later.

Now: clothing. I don't know how long we'll be out. I don't know if there'll be a possibility of washing my clothes. Packing light is a must, though. Definitely looking at the size of the backpack.

I pick one sweater, one long sleeved shirt and one short sleeved shirt. Then two pairs of jeans. Some socks. The least amount possible. It fills up almost the entire backpack.

Lastly, my laptop and its charger, together with my phone charger. These could come in handy. Let me correct myself there; these will come in handy. When has technology ever not come in handy?

I'm not pleased with how much I can bring with me. That is to say, how little I'm able to bring with me. It's not enough in my eyes. However, as long as I bring my wallet I should be fine. If I happen to have forgotten something, I'll just buy it.

The problem of not being able to wash my clothes would also be fixed this way. I'll simply buy new clothes, and throw the dirty ones away. It's as easy as that.

Lastly, because I don't know what else to do with them, I take the pictures out of my nightstand. I open my laptop slightly and slide them in between to keep them safe. Who knows, maybe I'll have some time during the epic quest to do some research on them.

'We just can't,' I say.

'Why not? Please explain to me.'

I stop putting on my shoes, and look up. Damien is already dressed and ready to go.

'We can't go through the palace, because people will see us,' I say.

'So? You don't think there are cameras on the walls outside? They will see us leaving no matter what.'

'Sure there are. But they'll have to go an extra step to look for me then. It's not like they can ask around and people will have directly seen us.'

'How else are we getting out of here, though?'

I give him a cryptic smile. He gives me a confused look. I go back to putting on my shoes, and look down.

'Oh, no,' I hear him say.

'I haven't even said anything yet.'

'That's exactly why I'm afraid.'

'Oh, come on.'
