Felix
With the leather notebook not-so-subtly hidden under my coat, I walk back to the hotel. It's still dark outside. When I left the hotel it was a little after 2 AM. It's 3:52 now. When I reach the door to our hotel room I see light coming out from underneath. Why would they be awake at this hour? I unlock it and walk in.
Damien is very much awake. And looking at me. He's not happy. Nora seems to be asleep with her head on his shoulder. Are they sharing a blanket? Why not just get a blanket each? It would be much more efficient in keeping you warm. Why leave the bed sheets unused?
'Where the hell have you been?' Damien asks.
He nudges Nora's head and she wakes up. She looks at him confused before spotting me in the doorway.
'Come in,' Damien says. 'And close the door.'
I do as I'm told.
'Where were you?' Nora asks. Her voice is a little lower than usual.
'You guys are not going to believe it,' I say.
'Because you're going to lie about it?' Damien says.
'No. Because it's incredible.'
They look unsure. I take the notebook out from underneath my coat with a 'tada!'. Nora's eyes widen as she stands up to walk towards me. Damien doesn't say anything; his eyebrows go down.
'What the hell,' Nora says.
She takes the notebook from my hands and looks at it like it's a priceless artifact.
'Is this...'
'Bailey's. Exactly.'
'Why?' Damien asks from the couch.
'It's the key to victory,' I say dramatically.
'What do you mean?' Nora asks.
'I'm so fed up with Bailey. On the interview he said he carries his ideas for the next campaign in this notebook.'
'So you took it?'
'Yes.'
'Like a madman?' Damien asks.
'I wouldn't say it like that,' I chuckle.
'Where did you get it from?' Nora asks.
'His house.'
'You broke into someone's house?!' Damien shouts.
Nora turns around and lays a finger on her lips.
'It's the middle of the night,' she whisper-shouts back. 'We're not alone in this hotel.'
He looks away from her. Nora turns to me.
'Let's go to the couch,' she says.
I follow her to the couch. She sits down under the blanket. I sit next to her. It's good Nora separates me and Damien. If looks could kill...
'So, let's get this straight,' she starts. 'You stole Bailey's notebook.'
I nod.
'From where?'
'His house, obviously,' Damien interrupts.
'That's the logical answer, but let's hear it from the man himself,' Nora says.
'From his house,' I admit.
'Told you so.'
'Are you five, Damien? Why did you steal it? Something about a campaign you said?'
