and i'm so tired that i might... quick my job, start a new life
I've always loved the color blue. It reminds me of things like the sky, bluebirds, the ocean. It reminds me of something I can never tell others. Her. The girl I do not know the name of. The girl whose eyes show pity but her emotions show strength. Staring out of my window, my hands pressing against the modern windowsill, I question why I always find her. Mother always tells me that I never should talk to strangers. Only people she or father finds fit. I never have had friends before. Well before I met her. Though I wouldn't call us friends since I don't know her name and she doesn't know mine. We just... run into each other sometimes. Especially those nights when it's too much and you just want to runrunrun— We're not friends. I am not allowed to be friends with people who aren't 'perfect' like me. Though I guess that's why I've never had friends before... Sometimes I wonder what it was like down there. Zaun, the undercity where all of the 'lowlifes' live as my parents call them. "Never speak to one of those things" they would tell me. I guess that was the only rule I've broken in my lifetime. I would like to say that I'm very good at reading people. Their body language tells a whole different story than the lies they spit out. However, I have never been able to read this strange girl. Maybe that's why when I see her again I begin to get a little more curious than I ever have before. It was midnight, and I wasn't home yet. I knew it was a bad idea from the start, disobeying my parents by not making curfew. Sometimes I get lost in thought without realizing it. The thing that snapped me out of those thoughts was her per usual. The sky was pitch black and didn't have its usual blue spark to it.
flashback...
Oh no, mother is going to be so mad at me for being so very late for curfew! Ohdearohdearohdear— CRASH "Woah there watch where you're going?!" a familiar voice called out. I look up to see the blue-headed girl I always seem to run into. Finally, she makes eye contact with me and her eyes widen just as mine do. "What are you doing out here so late?" she questions me, and I do not know how to respond. "I... I don't know to be honest," I sigh because it was true. I'm not sure why I was out here. The pity in her eyes is the same as always. It's almost like you can see the questions in her eyes that she knows she's unable to ask. "So, why are you out here um... blue-headed girl that I always see for some reason?" I blabber out awkwardly to fill the silence. I was never one to mess up, never awkward or weird, correct posture 24/7 but... whenever I'm with her it seems like all of my disciplines go away. It confuses me to be truthful. After my little mess up her eyes brighten and she starts laughing softly. Her laughter is soft and sweet but evil and insanity lies under it secretly. I do not say anything though because that is not my business. "A perfect lady shall never question another's lives as it doesn't interfere with ours" my mother would say. "Nothing you have to worry about... I've never told you my name have I?" the girl responds smoothly. I shake my head to her question and I see more of the craziness seeping out of her eyes.
