act one, chapter four ─ friends
become family !( spring of nineteen ninety-seven ! )

HIS FRIENDS ALWAYS SEEMED MORE LIKE his family. Alvin didn't fit in, sure enough, but he always felt welcome with his groups of friends. They were all so important to him. He honestly wouldn't know what to do without them. They had helped him through the hardest of times. And he was very appreciative of that. The male didn't think he was ever going to have a group of friends. Which was fine, but you were never supposed to go into life on your own. Whether it be companionship of friendship. Alvin never even felt loved by his own father. Although his death affected him greatly, he still couldn't deny the fact that his father treated him so much more different from the way that he treated his younger sister. But he wasn't too worried about that anymore, simply because he had his group of friends. And even one of his friends' family members accepted him more as a son than his own father did. He would say it was a shame, but it really wasn't.
Sireen and Joseph, who happened to be Hartley's parents pretty much took him in with open arms. And especially since they promised his mother, Cassandra, that they would take the best care of him while he was in Ohio. They had their own house up there, about forty-five minutes away from the college that he and his friends went to. And usually, their friend group spent the weekends there if they were free. Alvin had honestly been thinking about going this weekend. He hadn't seen them in a while, due to his classes and the amount of work that he had.
But, there was also Randy and Sidney. They were childhood friends of his. He knew them for the longest time. They were the weirdest trio ever, but they loved each other. He thought of Sidney and Randy as his younger siblings as well. He was happy to have moved back to see them. When he moved away from California the first time, he was pretty sad that he had to be away from them. But they still made the friendship work, by writing letters to each other.
There was Eren, who has, admittedly saved his life possibly a million times. Hartley was genuinely so sweet. And honestly, the two were a very weird couple. Mostly because there was something Alvin knew that she didn't. But cute nonetheless. He was glad that he met them, too. Alvin pretty much trusted Eren with everything. Even when he mentioned that he likes Hallie. He was the first one to know that.
With Nymphie being his sister, they were already naturally close. They treated each other more like best friends, though. But the only person in their friend group who always made him a bit iffy and suspicious was Mickey. Which, unfortunate for him, was Nymphie's boyfriend. They had been together for about a year and a half now. But we dealt with him to make Nymphie happy.
Mickey was a film major, just like him. And he had a creepy obsession with what happened in Woodsboro. But Sidney seemed to think that he was okay, and so did Randy. And so did everyone else. He seemed to be the only one who has some sort of bad feeling about him. So he never really told anyone about it because he was afraid nobody would believe him.
