WEEKS HAD PASSED AND I COULD STILL FEEL THE STAGGERING TINGLES AND LINGERING KISSES.
I was still in a reeling daze about it all; dreaming of about it, obsessing over it, craving it again and again until I could myself aching more at the thought-
"Hey-are you listening to me?"
I blinked into focus and found Aaliyah Preston scowling down at me. "What?" I said, crossing my legs to disguise my discomfort.
Aaliyah rolled her eyes like she knew exactly what was going on in that head of mine. "Stop daydreaming about your hot boyfriend," She called him that to mess with me (I secretly wished it was true), "I have something important to tell you."
"Right, important," I took a slow deliberate sip of my green smoothie, "Go on."
My friend kicked back in her seat, a frown weighing on her brows. "You won't like what I am about to tell you," She told me sombrely, "It's really fucked up."
I immediately became cautious. "What's fucked up?" I asked suspiciously, feeling confusion cloud my thoughts, "Is there something going on that I don't know about?"
Aaliyah sighed. "Precisely," She said, "I'm about to piss you off in the next minute. So much that you may want to punch somebody-I mean I would."
I almost snorted. "Punch?" I scoffed, "I'm not even violent."
"But promise me that if you decide you want to swing blows-" Aaliyah puffed out her cheeks comically and pushed her fist against the side of her face, "That you aim for the face."
I was puzzled. "Okay..."
Nevermind now. I was feeling very anxious.
"I need to even calm down as I tell you this," Aaliyah exhaled a shaky breath pressing her fists down on her thighs, "It fucking makes me wanna-"
Now I was alarmed. "Hurry up and tell me!" I urged her impatiently, "Why are you pissed off? Has somebody said-"
"It was a bet."
A moment of silence.
I swallowed. "What was?" I needed her to elaborate.
It was a bet.
That could mean many things. Anything. It was a bet. What was? Why did Aaliyah look like a ticking bomb? Why did I have a feeling I knew what she was going to say next? Something that made my insides churn sickeningly.
"Callum Daniels asked you out as a fucking bet!" She exploded, "I knew there was something off about him!"
I felt frozen in time.
