Revealing Moms Secret

Chapter 9

We're on our way to Brendan's house. The Californian breeze is hitting my face, our hands are twined together. We made it to his house. You're probably thinking how can he drive when he just got his license, well he's been driving for a year or two and is just officially driving. He parked and helped me out the car. We both walked towards his front door and went in.

"Brendan?" Julie called coming towards us.

"Oh I didn't expect you to be here. Brendan we all need to talk, to verify why you're leaving." she told the both of us and gave me a dirty look.

Julie led us to their dining room table. I sat down at the chair and Rob came in.

"Hi Chassidy, how are you?" he asked.

"I'm alright. How are you?"

"I'm getting through this." he faked a smile.

I felt bad because his parents didn't expect for their son to basically throw his life away. But their son doesn't see it like that, he sees it like yea it's a rough patch right now but this is what he wants. He wants to be with me forever and I want the same.

"So, you've heard, you are going to military school but you aren't being forced by us to go." Julie started.

"So why am I going?" Brendan sounded really confused.

"You're going because you've received this scholarship from a university football coach. He wanted you to try this, just so you are more broader and stronger." Rob added.

Julie continued, "You're supposed to go for two years. And you were supposed to only have two visits in that year but since conflicts happened," she got cut off.

"Mom, don't act like this is her fault. She is a great person and she's not the only one involved with this. This is my problem as well and I am grateful to help." Brendan defended me.

"But you just threw you're whole life down the drain. You just wasted valuable things on a girl you're not going to be with forever." Julie basically kept putting the blame on me.

"I think I should go," I said.

"Let me take you home." Brendan got up.

"No it's fine, I'll just tell my mom you're borrowing the car. I can walk home. I'll text you." I smiled and kissed him on the cheek. I looked at his parents and walked to their front door.

I started to feel tears roll down my face. I'd never think in a million years Julie would say that about him and I. She used to love me, I guess because I wasn't so careful with her son I'm like her death wish.

I haven't been somewhere in forever. I've been so caught up keeping my secret, I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to do the one thing I love the most.

I wouldn't be able to feel like I'm flying on water anymore and that breaks my heart. It's my passion to surf and I just basically threw this away...

I walked to the beach. There weren't a lot of people, but that's great because no one can hear me sobbing my life away. As I got closer to the water, I felt safe, safer than I'd ever been out on the water. I sat close to the shore and closed my eyes as the waves broke and the salty air rushing to hit me.

I felt like someone was watching me, but from afar. There was like a very bad pit in my stomach like something bad was going to happen or something was going to scare me. I looked around and I saw one family dipping in and out of the ocean, a couple walking the opposite of me, a group of guys walking around, and some kid my age walking towards me and then back the other way.

I wasn't really in the mood to have a conversation with anyone at the moment, so I got up and headed home. As I walked toward the streets, I didn't feel safe anymore...

*Brendan's P.O.V*

"But you just threw you're whole life down the drain. You just wasted valuable things on a girl you're not going to be with forever." my mother yelled.

I couldn't believe she just said that, she loves Chassidy and she just put her on the spot.

"I think I should go." Chassidy said standing up from her chair.

"Let me take you home." I said and got up.

"No it's fine, I'll just tell my mom you're borrowing the car. I can walk home. I'll text you." she smiled and kissed me on the cheek. Chassidy looked at my parents and walked herself out my house.

"Now that's done and settled." my mom declared.

"No. We're done talking. I can't believe you." I looked at my dad and he was speechless. He looked like my mother did the unbelievable and she did. My mom loves Chassidy, she would never think so little of her.

I walked out of the dining room and to my room. I set out some clothes I really needed while I was away, after all, I am leaving tomorrow.

"I heard it all," Athena said," there's something wrong with mom."

"Ya think?" I snickered.

"Mom wouldn't send you off just like that." she kept on going.

"Athena look I don't care. She could ship me anywhere in the whole entire world but it wouldn't change the love I have for my girlfriend and I definitely  wouldn't change the hate for the one who's letting me go." I snapped. I just wasn't really in the mood to talk to anyone.

"Wait, what did you say?" she asked.

"I said, if I was shipped to the moon for a year, it wouldn't change the love I have for Chassidy and the hate I have for my mother." I repeated.

"That's it." Athena shouted.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I really could care less.

"Mom is shipping you off so you and Chassidy have to work out your long distance relationship and end up breaking up because the both of you can't handle being apart. You're not a war major, you're a football major Brendan."

"Hold it. So you're saying mom got a scholarship and used it for a camp instead of a university. And while Chassidy is pregnant, I'll be gone and won't have to worry about her. We'll eventually split up because it's too hard for our relationship and mom expects me to forget about her. Oh my gosh! I can't believe her." I said shaking my head.

"Mom can't know that we figured out her little plan. While you're gone, Chassidy and I will meet the football coach and ask him a whole bunch of questions. So keep quiet." with that, Athena left the room.
