Chapter 12

---

*Chassidy's POV*

Jared and I finished shopping earlier. I bought some outfits and some supplies. He brought me home and helped me bring all the bags inside.

"Hello, Jared. I didn't know you were coming over, I didn't make enough food." my mother said.

"Oh no Mrs. Richards-"

"He's just leaving mom. He was helping me bring in bags." I told her.

"Okay then, I'm serving right now, so you have five minutes." my mom walked away to the kitchen.

"Goodnight." Jared said at the last moment and she waved.

"You coming?" I asked taking a few bags and walking up the staircase. I opened the door and it was pitch black inside. I reached for the light switch and turned it on.

"And we meet again." Layla's voice comes out of nowhere.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"How did you even get in?" Jared followed.

"Look Jared, you need to leave. Thanks for everything, I'll see you tomorrow. Oh and don't tell my mom she's here." I whispered.

"Yeah, that's fine. Do you mind if I drive you to school tomorrow, to maybe ease the tension on the bus?"

"Um, sure. That would be great. I'll text you later." I smiled and he left.

"Aw, I see a little love connection going on for you two. I don't know if Brendan is going to like this idea." Layla said sitting on the corner of my bed.

"What do you want?"

"What do I want? Hmm. Let's see, I want my best friend to get it through her thick head that the kid she just spent her whole day with is going to break her into the littlest pieces. He's going to hurt her so bad she's never going to trust anyone ever again, especially the ones closest to her."

"The only one I'm trusting a little less is you. Now get the hell out of my house. I don't want to see you till sixth period tomorrow. Please." I stammered.

She climbed out of my window and down the tree she got into the passenger seat of a black car down the street.

"We're eating, if you're not down here in 30 seconds, you're grounded." my father yelled from downstairs.

'Really Chassidy?!' I walked down the stairs and to the dining room.

"What took you so long?" Olivia asked.

"I was um... I was starting to put my stuff away." I said sitting down. My mom had made her famous lasagna, it was so delicious. The pasta is so soft and the cheese melts in your mouth.

"Did you get everything you need?" my dad had asked another question.

"Yes, I did." I answered.

I took a bite from my slice and devoured it. I was already onto my second slice while the rest of my family finished their first.

As I was about to take another bite, I felt like I was being tickled, but from the inside. I looked down and smiled. My belly was almost as hard as a rock and two times bigger than I'd expected.

"What happened?" Hunter whipped toward my direction.

"They just moved and it tickled." I laughed.

I saw my dad glance at my mom and she smiled too.

"Chassidy, I think we need to talk, all of us, as a family. she said.
