Chapter 14

---

*Chassidy's POV*

He left the room, leaving me there helpless as ever on the floor. I bawled my eyes out, actually thinking of the possibilities that the only guy I ever loved would never come back... What if he really wasn't at a military camp? What if he was on the other side of the world hooking up with some Scandinavian girl? Or what if it was true that he did leave to support me? I really didn't know the answers to any of my questions.

So I called the only available person who could pick me up; Olivia.

I dialed her number. Two rings and she picked up.

"What do you want twerp?" she asked.

"Can you come pick me up? Please?" I cried on the phone.

"What happened?"

"I'll tell you in the car. I just really want a bowl of ice cream and a warm hug. Even if it is from my evil sister." I tried to laugh and so did she.

"Okay, I'll be there in 5." Olivia hung up and I grabbed my book bag. I paced around the nurses room. I decided to write her a note so she wouldn't panic when I wasn't there.

Dear Ms. Craymore,
My sister came to pick me up for a doctors appointment. Please leave my clothes safe, so that tomorrow I can get them. Thanks so much!
Chassidy Richards.

I left the office and walked towards the front of the school, hoping no one saw me. I looked around and headed out the door. Olivia did make it in five minutes.

"What on earth are you wearing?" she asked laughing. I rolled my eyes wiping away whatever was left from my rainfall. I got in the car and she drove off.

"Can we go home first? I wanna change out of this paper suit." I said turning up the radio and closing my eyes. The warm breeze was so irresistible. It was better than any other day so far. It was a great day to go surfing... It was my happy place; to be out on the ocean and feel free flying in the air.

When we get home, I'm going to change, get ice cream, and go out on the pool. Simple.

"So tell me what happened? Did someone bother you?" Olivia asked getting upset. I've never seen her care about me the way she does now. It's like she's actually changing, I like it. But then I miss the bitchy her, because I get to fight with her a lot.

"Well, Tara and her stupid followers dumped their lunch all over me. I found out my best friends were keeping secrets from me. Jared confessed into liking me, well loving me and he convinced me Brendan will never come back. I told Jared I hated him and that I never hated to see him again." I explained to my sister.

"Do you really think Brendan left for the reason he did? I feel like there's something behind all this. Something isn't adding up. They're all hiding something from you, and it's starting to make me angry."

She drove home and I ran inside up to my room. I just put on a pair of shorts and a huge shirt. And threw out the paper uniform I had. I went downstairs to the garage, where Olivia had been waiting for me.

"Ready?" she asked. I nodded and she drove off. He headed toward the city where most shops and food stops were. Traffic wasn't heavy at this time due to everyone in school or work.

"When do you go for your permit?" Olivia asked.

"Um, after my birthday. I don't know the exact date. I'll have to find out." I told my sister.

"Your birthday is in a week! What do you want?" she squealed. I've never seen Olivia so happy for my birthday. She's always rotten and spoiled. I thought about the question. And all I really wanted was Brendan back. He was everything I wanted for my birthday. This was his first ever birthday he was missing. And I knew he wasn't coming back anytime soon. So I said, "Nothing at the moment." I knew she didn't believe it. But she nodded anyways.
