Haidar Jega
To tell the truth, I was already fed up with Nailah's drama. She had begun annoying me. She argues about every little thing and doesn't even give me space to breathe. She almost seduced me into having sex with her but I refrained. I was above that and I wouldn't keep my manners and principles aside and perform such a disgusting act with her. Of course, she got furious and thought I felt she was disgusting and didn't want to touch her. I made her understand that I wanted us to get married first but indeed, she wasn't even willing to listen to that. After that event that happened that day, it got me thinking if I wanted her as a wife. I mean, if she could want to freely sleep with me, that means she had done it with other guys. Ew!, I felt irritated by those thoughts and decided to discard them.
Another thing I didn't fail to notice was DK'S laughter when Nailah was shouting over a cat. I felt Amused when I heard it, it was very feminine and I was sure that was the only feminine trait she possessed. Well, it had been two weeks since Nailah left for the states and I couldn't be happier. I did love her, but now that I had gotten to stay under the same roof as her for five good days, I was sure I wouldn't be able to stay with her for eternity. She was working and was I ready to take up that task? Indeed I loved her very much but the thing was that I didn't like stress. But the fact that I get really happy when I see her was something else. I felt at peace whenever I saw her face but she always had a way to ruin that peace with a silly argument. Urgh! Nailah was work but maybe she was my work to get done.
"Boss!" I heard my cousin say in mockery. Jabir was annoying and had a way of always making me angry.
"So you were telling me about Nailah and got lost in thoughts, can you please continue?" He said. I didn't even realize I was so lost in thought until he had called on me.
"Oh yeah sorry, I was saying I wanted to go see her parents next month. But she is refusing I come" I said. I felt a bit devastated already.
"Maybe she has her reasons," Jabir said.
"She says it's work," I said.
"Work?. Her company is doing fine, what else does she want to achieve?" Jabir asked.
"I don't know, I do wanna settle down with her. But..." I paused "I feel confused at the moment" I continued.
"Confused in what sense?" He asked.
"Is she the girl I want? Staying with her for the first time and I felt like I was leaving in hell. I offered to take her out a lot of times but she refused, I feel a bit confused at the moment" I said. He sighed and looked at me.
"Why would she refuse to go out?" Jabir asked.
"I don't know why, She said she wanted to avoid the paparazzi," I said.
"Lame excuse, Paparazzi " He hissed. "Nailah is kinda weird. And I have never really liked her sincerely" He said.
"Have you ever liked anyone?" I hissed.
"I have. That bodyguard of your standing outside" He said looking towards the transparent door that showed the figure of Dk sitting in front of my office. "She is really beautiful" He added. I couldn't help but hiss loud.
"Now I know you are crazy. I'd rather marry my crazy ex-girlfriend than that"
I said."You are mad, from looking at her I know she is nice" He smiled dreamily.
"Nice ke?. That girl is fucking Rude and prideful. I simply cannot stand her, one bit." I said in so much disgust. "She might be beautiful but she is a walking devil"
"She's just doing her job," he said.
"Part of her job is being rude to her boss huh?" I asked.
"Well, you are very stubborn yourself and if she is nice to you I know you will belittle her. I know you Haidar" He said.
"That's your own business. Uhum, Are you coming for the presidents daughters wedding, I heard she was arranged to marry the prince of Daura. Hmm, my father should not even try that one with me" I scoffed. He chuckled.
"Yeah, I'm attending in place of my family. Hajarah Badamasi huh? I'd have to attend"'He said.
"And do you that my bodyguard happens to be her chief bridesmaid" I laughed hysterically when I said that. That man-like lady was going to wear a dress. I laughed again.
"You are such a fool you know?" Jabir said and I smacked his arm.
"Like seriously, how can a man wear a dress?." I continued laughing.
"Haidar you are very funny. I feel like that lady is your missing rib. Something tells me you two are good for each other" Jabir said.
"That's what you feel. Thank God. In sha Allah I know my missing rib will be the best of Allah's servants. Not a rude woman like Dk" I said. Jabir didn't seem to want to further the conversation so he sighed and focused on typing away on his laptop.

I was done from work and was presently seated in the car. Dk was in the front seat as usual and was typing away on her phone. She would chuckle at some points or even laugh a bit loud. I was staring at her, she seemed happy today and wasn't as gloomy as in the past few weeks.
"Jabar please let's go to the palace. I want to get ready for the wedding" I said. The wedding dinner was taking place at Adewale Hall. Adewale hall was one of the most prestigious halls in Maitama, Nigeria.
We finally arrived home and Dk and I went straight to our various rooms. She was going to get her bags for the wedding. She would be leaving one hour before me because she was the chief bridesmaid and had to be there to get ready. She had already arranged for another one of her trusted friends to guard me throughout the event, and this time thankfully it wasn't a woman. It was a man who was at least 6'7 feet tall. Yeah, he was taller than me because I was 6'5. I knew Dk would have left by now so I didn't even bother checking on her. I just got dressed and went outside right away.
