Haidar Jega
First of all, I couldn't even bring myself to imagine the fear I felt when I thought the gun had hit Lailah. I don't know why, but I felt like I had lost the world when I heard that crash. My mind had a million thoughts running through it. But I was glad she didn't die at least.
Today was a Saturday and the big day which I had come to Dubai was finally here. Sahib, Nailah, and I attended the same university where we attained our Masters in Business Administration. My dad made sure I attained that immediately after I attained a degree in medicine. I met Nailah while doing my Degree, she was all I ever wanted in a woman and I immediately fell for her the moment we spoke.
"Sahib, did the police find out what happened?." I and Sahib were dressed in our tuxedos. I was wearing a brown tux and so was he. Sahib was tall and had a special fashion designer. I mean it's not every day you see a 7 feet tall man.
"It was a stray bullet. Because it was a police gun that was fired, apparently there were robbers in the next house" Sahib said. I sighed in relief.
"That's good, I thought it was a planned event," I said.
"What's the time?" He asked. I took a quick glimpse at my wristwatch. "7:55 pm, damn where could Nailah be?" I said to sahib. Nailah was coming to Dubai from Canada, she told me she had already arrived in Dubai though and had to go shopping. I swear women work!
"Is Lailah coming as well?" Sahib asked me. I nodded. I had arranged she was gotten a brown gown, the color of the day was brown. I hated it but then we are in a world where women rule. The men had no say at all. I told you before, women are working.
"Haidar, do you think I can have a dance with her? To tell you the truth, I like Lailah" He said. I was holding onto my phone and it fell. I immediately bowed down and retrieved it from the floor.
"You like her?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I do." He said.
"As in you want to date her?." I asked and he nodded.
"Man you must be drunk. She isn't the type of woman you'd like, she's very plain and very annoying. You wouldn't like her at all, I'm sure you'll find someone better." I said. He chuckled.
"That's what I like about her, she's very beautiful and very organized. She's what I want in a woman" He said. I felt a bit of jealousy wash over me, I wasn't happy about his feelings toward her at all.
"Okay, if you say so. You can ask her out. If she agrees then you are in luck, because I doubt if she even has time for men" I said. He still smiled.
"I'll go ask her out, right away. But I will not tell her that I want to date her though. I'll just go out with her as my date to the dance" He said. He immediately dashed out before I could speak. Of course, I wouldn't let that happen, it's not that I love Lailah or anything of that sort. I just couldn't stand the thought of her with any man at all. It annoys me. Okay, I don't like seeing Lailah happy with anyone elder. It sickens me.
Just then, my phone began to ring and when I checked the caller ID for some reason I hissed. It was Nailah "Hey babe," she said immediately after I picked up the call.
"Hey, Nailah how are you?" I asked dryly.
"Babe you don't sound like yourself, did that stupid bodyguard..." I cut her off immediately.
"Don't call her that, she isn't stupid. Where are you?" I know. I sounded harsh. She seemed to not care as she proceeded to tell me her reason for calling, ignoring my nasty tone.
