(Y/n)'s POV

My eyes begin to open at first light and I groan lightly not really wanting to get up my head still not feeling quite right. I push off the covers and I notice Gally's arm softly draped over me, and my face can't help but go bright red at the fact. I immediately get out of bed and leave his room. I can't be here when he wakes up it's too frustrating to be around him right now, and I refuse to let him think of me as anything other than another glader. My stomach twists into knots as I hurry out of the homestead and head towards the mess hall.

I decide the pit in my stomach is only hunger, so the only thing I have to do is eat, and life can return to normal. I stand with my back leaning up against the building until I see Fry open the door welcoming me inside "(Y/n)! Glad to see you I was worried you'd still be out with that hangover today," he tells me causing me to scoff lightly "It'll take a lot more than a jar of Gally's drink to take me out," I tell him as I happily take the first serving of breakfast eggs and some type of grits. I hear Fry laugh at my remark as I go to sit to devour the meal, and as I dig in I hear a familiar laugh.

I turn my head slightly to see my best friend Winston joining me at my table. I'm not sure how Winston and I found our way to being best friends maybe because he's the keeper of the slicers and I've had to spend the most time with him. "How are you feeling?" he asks referring to my hangover "I'm fine and I rather put yesterday behind me," I tell him he smiles at me mischievously. "Was sleeping with Gally that bad?" he asks while wiggling his eyebrows I fling a spoon full of grits at his face "Slim it!" I tell him as I feel the heat rising to my cheeks.

Winston smiles brightly at my reaction "Is that a blush? Do you have feelings for Gally?" he quizzes causing me to scoff at the notion. "No, it's just- um- that-" I find myself stumbling over the words to prove Winston wrong but the question alone has me all riled up. "Speak of the devil," Winston says flicking his eyes over to the doorway I let my eyes drift over in that direction and see Gally walking in for breakfast. I avert my eyes quickly and resume devouring my food avoiding looking in the direction of Gally.

Winston is astonished by my actions "(Y/n), I was joking, but you seem to be pretty flustered around him," he tells me. I take a deep breath thinking of how I was feeling last night around Gally. "Listen, Winston, if I'm honest I don't know how I feel. Gally has always just been someone for me to argue with and yesterday was just weird, okay? It probably isn't anything and we'll be back to our usual selves, arguing in no time," I tell him trying to explain the situation the best I can. Winston tries to suppress his smile but I see it anyways. "Whatever you say," he tells me causing me to grimace and I quickly finish my food and bring my dishes back to Fry.

I basically run from the mess hall and head back to finish off some hogs that there's no way Winston was able to finish alone. Once I'm done I find myself covered in blood, and I know that no one should be over at the bathhouse seeing it's still early. I walk over to Winston where he's handling some other animals "I'm going over to the bathhouse I need to wash this blood off," I tell him he grimaces at my look "Is there some in your hair?" he asks "Afraid so," I tell him as I walk away.

When I get to the bathhouse I leave my dirty clothes and fresh ones in the house and grab one of the towels wrapping it around me as I walk to the water not far away. The one bad thing about being the only girl is that I have to be way more cautious about bathing. I lay the towel down and dive in, I'm not sure why but being under the water always gives me a lot of anxiety so I try to do it quickly. When my head is above the water it isn't bad though, almost empowering, I scrub my hair and swim toward where the soap is left. I wash myself quietly trying to be quick, but panic surges through me as I hear talking not far away.

I instantly sink into the water covering all of my body so just my head is bobbing above. This can not be happening I say in my head as I see the builders heading towards the bathhouse with supplies to fix something. They'll know I'm here as soon as they enter and I can't think of a way of getting out of this.
