Light pierced my eyes.
"Dream get through the portal!"
I screamed remembering the soldiers behind us. His hand touched my shoulder and squeezed it lightly the feeling of safety flooded from his touch. Was the bond working properly again?

Next I saw his green eyes and blonde hair.
"It's alright Y/N. We're safe don't panic."
I lifted my head from a pillow. Pain shot through my neck.
"Ack. What happened?"
"You went into a coma. The soldiers used a poison on their spears which entered your blood stream. It's very potent to magic users."

I registered the plaster over the inner part of my elbow.
"How long was I out?"
He ran his hand through his curls. At some point his hand had left my shoulder. I missed the feeling, but I would never admit it.
"Three days."
"Very funny."

"I'm not lying. It's been three days since we left the Nether. Queen Puffy has already made plans to overthrow the kingdom."
My heart dropped. That meant I only had a month till the incident.
"How'd you wake me?"

His jaw clenched.
Oh End gods what has this man done?
"I...I got some help...from your dad."
"WHAT?"
I jumped to my feet. His eyes widened.
"Don't worry! He doesn't suspect a thing. It was the only way I could get the right treatment for you."

I pinched my nose bridge.
"Honestly you'd think as a king of a nation you would be a bit smarter."
He held his head higher.
"Says the one who nearly threw themselves into a lava lake! Don't you dare talk to me as if you aren't in any fault!"

My blood was boiling.
"Whatever. Did you find anything useful while I was out?"
I rushed down the stairs of the tower. Dream behind me.
"I may have but you're not going to like it."
"Wha-"

Three maids rushed past us. We lifted our hoods in sync. Messenger boys ran past and stewards.
"What is going on?"
He whispered closely behind me. I calmed my nerves.
"Your mother is coming."
I latched his hand into mine and dragged him into one of the two lines of servants. They stood with their heads down and still.

A small figure appeared in the line across from us. It was younger me. I glanced at her and saw already the effect of fate. Rigid. Still. Bowed.
"Now that's someone I fired that I don't regret."
He whispered to me, nodding his head at the Chief Maid who stood next to younger me.
"I remember this day..."

I recalled quietly. Just then her shrilling voice sounded down the hall. Queen Puffy strutted her way down the lines, inspecting each and every individual. She got to younger me. Pulled harshly on the golden cuffs of my dress. The little space buns on my head bobbed from the motion painfully.
I dug my nails into my leg through my cloak.

That's when younger Dream, Clay, walked behind his mother. When Queen Puffy had moved along the line Clay reached out to younger me. Foolishly I allowed him to take my hand. I watched in pain as he squeezed it and mouthed a sorry before rushing back to his mother's side.

"As you were."
The Queen ordered and swept around the corner, going to prepare her Commanders. A slap thronged throughout the line. Our eyes snapped back. I felt my stomach churn because I already knew what had happened.
Small little Y/N lay shoved on the floor. One of her buns were skewed. A hand print redding her one cheek and tears glistening her E/C eyes.

I don't want to see this.
The Chief Maid sneered at the little girl.
"Look at her everyone and see her sin. To think she is worthy enough to look at ,let alone touch the future king!"
I felt Dream move to stop her but I placed my hand on his chest. I kept my face against his chest and listened to his breathing rather than her.

"You. Are. Nothing. He doesn't want you. A lowly commoner."
I could remember the rest. Another maid would rush to help the younger me up. I would wipe my tears and continue my day. Dream's voice caressed my ears.
"Y/N...it's over. It's over."

I pulled away and wiped the tear that had fallen down my cheek.
A messenger boy told us we were summoned to the war room. I rolled my shoulders and pulled my head higher.
"Y/N why didn't you ever tell me?"
I ignored him. I wanted to forget it ever happened.
We stopped outside the doors.

His hands caressed mine. My tears still stuck in my throat.
"Why?"
"Because what could you have done? Fought for me? You were fifteen and a future king."
His green eyes frowned at me.
"I would have thought of something. Is that...is that why we fell away?"

I clutched the door handle, gritting my teeth.
"No. It lead me to become quieter. To not pry you anymore."
"I wish I had seen you pulling away sooner."
It wouldn't have mattered.
