"Oh...God... Plea.. please protect me... Please God... I.. I am scared", Eva whispered with a gulp as fear was evident in her eyes. Walking as quietly as she could, she made her way forward, looking around the jungle simultaneously, trying to be as cautious and alert as she could. She was in a forest after all. It was the home of dangerous carnivores. Those animals could rip her to shreds in a matter of seconds, which was the last thing she would want to happen to her.
With heavy breathing due to all the walking she had done, she stopped as she leaned against a tree as she spoke in between her pants for air,
"I... I know it was a bad...bad idea to come here. I shouldn't..have accepted that dare from those bullies. What... What is even their problem? Do they hate me that much to send me here?"
She couldn't continue her talking as the parched, dry feeling of thirst in her throat was killing her at that point. She needed water right now. She was never the one who knew how to survive in such situations. If she didn't find water in the next half an hour, then her condition could worsen. Nice, very nice!
She gulped her saliva that stung the walls of her oesophagus as she continued walking with heavy pants escaping her lips.
However, her ears perked up on hearing the sound of some bubbles bursting in the distance as the sound of water gushing struck her eardrums. Her brain started functioning as she looked at the ground and then back at her surroundings and realised that the ground was covered with scrubs and the trees were relatively less in this area. It only meant one thing that she was on the outskirts of the forest and there might be a water source not far away from her.
Her eyes lit up in hope as her feet started following the sound of the water and not a few minutes later a shrill scream of joy and celebration escaped her lips when she came face to face with a spring, the stream of water being in a continuous and rapid flow.
Without thinking twice, she rushed towards the bank of the spring as she crouched down to drink some. Cupping her hands, she immersed them in the water before taking them out.
