—/<3/—The next day at school was interesting, to say the least. Kirika was shyer after her revelation yesterday afternoon and blushed more, sakusa became touchier which was completely unlike him, pulling her in for hugs more often and always making sure some part of his body was touching her when they were together, whether it be his shoulder or simply a brush of his knee. it almost always ended up with Kirika looking away to hide her reddened cheeks.
Luckily for sakusa, people hadn't yet stopped gossiping about their 'relationship', meaning he had more time to get Kirika to like him back, though he had noticed her sudden bashfulness. He decided to test the waters and take his affection a bit further, but since it was lunchtime and he could feel the gazes of their classmates, he settled on carrying out his plan later in the day when he walked her home.
He did once consider just telling her that he liked her for real but with the size of his ego and the fear of rejection looming over him, that simply wasn't possible yet, not until Sakusa knew for sure that she liked him.

Kirika and Sakusa walked in a comfortable silence on their way home, their linked hands swinging in between them. Kirika was looking around at the newly blooming summer flowers, bathing in the summer sun that had finally come out after hiding behind grey clouds for the majority of spring and the first few weeks of summer. Sakusa was thinking about what he was going to do.
He didn't exactly know what he was going to do per se, at first he was thinking of something intimate but simple, like a forehead kiss, but now it was closer to the time he was starting to second guess his choice. Now he was deliberating over another hug but since he'd hugged her a lot today, she might just see it as part of their deal. However, theoretically, their deal was nullified as soon as they're out of the school gate and they've been holding hands on the way home all week, so maybe she'll see the meaning behind it. The other option was kissing her hand as they go to part ways but with his mask in the way, Sakusa didn't think it was practical.
He was shaken out of his thoughts by Kirika's sudden halt. He was about to question her until he noticed they were already outside of her house. He thought he would have more time.
"Do you want to come in? We can study for the English test," kirika asked, her hand still snugly fitted into his, her honey-brown eyes locking onto his dark ones.
He could never deny her. "Sure," Sakusa agreed, taking this opportunity to quickly pull his mask down and placing a small kiss on the hand that was intertwined with his, revelling in the way colour sprung to her cheeks.
'nailed it.'
Kirika turned away, hiding her red face. She tugged on his hand and pulled him through her gate towards the front door, mumbling a quiet 'c'mon' as she did so.
Sakusa internally celebrated. Her reaction was good. She didn't look disgusted nor did she pull away. Flustered was good for him, he could work with flustered, at least he knew she liked the affection he was showing even if it was completely different to how he usually acted around other people. He went from being repulsed by touch to clingy within such a short amount of time. It shocked even himself.
As they took off their shoes, Sakusa noticed that there were multiple pairs of Kirika's shoes but no shoes that even remotely looked like they would belong to her parents. Sakusa didn't want to pry, but he couldn't help but ask.
"No one's been home whenever I come over, do you live alone?" Sakusa asked, placing his shoes neatly on the rack next to Kirika's.
"Ahh, my mother passed away when I was born and my dad and his boyfriend have important jobs so they go on business trips often," Kirika answered, shrugging off her school blazer. "Would you like anything to drink?"
Ah fuck.
Sakusa didn't really know what to say so he just nodded awkwardly and thanked her when she handed him an ice-cold bottle of water from the fridge.
"You don't need to start acting awkward, I like having the house to myself. I get to play adult simulator without actual responsibilities for two weeks every month." Kirika said smugly, leading him up the stairs to her room.
Sakusa had been in her room before but he never really got the chance to observe. Her room was pretty large, clearly the master bedroom. Sakusa assumed her dads gave her the bigger room since she was the only one who lived there full time. The walls were a subtle pink with white hardwood floors, the middle covered with a white fluffy rug. On one side of her room was her double bed and her desk pressed up to the wall underneath her window with the door to her closet to the left of it. on the other side, she had a gorgeous library set up that Sakusa admired very much. there was an entire wall of books with a sliding ladder and an armchair.
Honestly, knowing that Kirika liked to read made Sakusa like her even more, his heart doing flips as he fantasized about her curled up in his arms whilst she read.
"Are you okay? You've been spacing out a lot today," Kirika walked across her room to the library where sakusa was lingering, loosely linking their fingers.
"Just thinking," Sakusa sighed happily, edging closer to her. "Let's go study, I really do need help with English." He tugged her over to the desk.
