Chapter five

Adrian P.O.V

I was thinking about what Lola had  said. So Tori was being drugged by her own brother  so he could take over everything.They own this hospital too so that was why it was easy to tie her down.
"That's really bad",I thought.
I offered to assist surgeons who needed my help and prescribed some drugs too.
It was a late afternoon when my phone rang.I checked the caller's ID.It was Jack.
" Hey man",I greeted."Hey Ad, where you at", Jack asked.
"Sixth floor all day",I replied.
" Been assisting those crazy people again", Jack asked grunting.
"Something like that",  I replied laughing.
" I'm going to the club tonight", Jack announced."You're coming",he asked.
"Nah, I need to rest",I told Jack .
" Alright, see you tomorrow",he said before ending the call.I took a deep breath and smiled.
My phone rang again and this time it was Dr.Kingston."Meet me in my office right now",he said and disconnected the call.
"What does he want",I wondered as I walked to his office.I knocked on the door" Come in,"came the reply.
"Good afternoon Dr",I greeted bowing slightly." Afternoon Adrian, how're you feeling today",he asked  smiling.
"I'm pretty good",  I replied him.
" Sit down boy, we need to talk", Dr.Kingston said looking at me."I noticed one thing about you so far.You're diligent and competent.I watched you as you took your job seriously.The patient in Room 16 needs a lot of attention and I can't handle it alone.Why don't you give me a feedback after you must have thought about it",Dr.Kingston finished.
"Sure,I'd think about it.Thank you for considering me",I smiled and shaked his hands.I left his office." Room 16",I whispered.I'm gonna figure out a lot of things.It would be nice working for Dr.Kingston;more private patients from the VIPs to the VVIPs.It also meant lot of cash to spend."Finally, I can pay off my loan in peace",I said smiling to myself.I signed out from work and drove home in silence."What was she feeling right now", I thought about Tori and felt sorry for her.No one would have thought her brother was that type of person. He looked innocent and always complimented his workers.He once complimented me about my looks."You should be a model, Adrian.Your look makes female patients look forward to falling ill so they can see your face",he teased."Look aren't everything",I thought again.Nina was already home when I drove into the garage."Nina",I called as I entered and heard no response.I went into her room and saw her sleeping.Her face was pale and she was breathing slowly."Nina, you okay", I asked worriedly.She didn't open her eyes but she answered"Hey Ad, you're back from work",She said. "I just felt tired and decided to rest for a while",she added." Really",I asked stroking her cheek."Mmmmh",she replied opening her eyes.
"How's work today",she asked." T'was full of mystery."Really, tell me all about it", she said and sat upstraight.I told her what had happened and the part where I get to be Dr.Kingston assistant."No one is to be trusted",Nina said sadly."I'm gonna find out what's hidden from the light ",I said determined." Be careful though",Nina told me."I'm glad you're gonna pay off your student loan finally", Nina said smiling."Yeah, and I can take good care of you and you can go to college after high school",I said to her excitedly."Let's make dinner",I said to Nina and left for my room to freshen up.I came out few minutes later and made dinner for us both."You're good at everything",Nina sulked."Come on, don't be like that ",I said tickling her." Stop it",She said and hit her head."Ow, Ow", I yelled and she rolled on the floor with laughter."Let's watch something on TV",I said after eating dinner.I changed the channel to a comedian movie."That's Kelvin Hart", Nina said and pointed to a black-skinned guy with muscles."Never heard of him", I laughed as Nina looked at me wide-mouthed."You're so old-school, Adrian", she complained".
