"Enrique!" Claire cried out.
The changeling changed back into its troll form.
"Yup, that's me right he-"
Draal shoved him into a bag that Aaarrrgghh!! was holding before the latter shut the bag close.
"Oi, let me out!" was what was heard from a NotEnrique muffling. He was kicking around but his strength did not match Aaarrgghh!!'s.
"What? What happened to my brother?" Claire asked, tears forming in her eyes.
"It seems that your brother was exchanged for this little fella," Blinky explained.
"But why? Why him?" Claire was in tears as she fell backwards. Mary and Darci quickly moved forward and grabbed her below her arms to break that fall.
"The decision on who chooses the infants lies with the Janus Order," Blinky said.
"Janus Order? Then, let's go find Enrique there," Mary suggested.
"Afraid not. The Janus Order is run by hundreds of changelings who have walked on the world for who knows how long," Draal explained.
"So, how do we get him back?" Claire asked.
"There is nothing we can do about it now," Draal replied, folding his arms. "Especially when our trollhunter is not even close for an amateur battle."
"Hey," Toby rebutted.
"WE CAN'T JUST LEAVE HIM THERE, HE'S MY BROTHER!" Claire shouted.
"As much as I pity you, youngling," a new voice joined their conversation. Everyone turned to see Vendel walking in. "Draal is correct. No one can survive Gunmar and his Decimar Blade. That is why it is best if Killahead Bridge is never opened again."
"But.. But I-"
"My dear," Vendel started, stroking her head, "I'm sorry you have to go through this. But as of now, we must focus at the task at hand."
Claire's mind vividly went back to the time they were learning what changelings were. When they had known, she had a vision where her brother was replaced. She never gave it much thought, but now it had become true. Could she see the future? Or had she just gone crazy? She could ponder about it later. She looked at her phone because a notification had just come in. She sighed.
"What is it?" Darci asked.
"My parents want me home because of Enrique," Claire explained. "They want to know if I'm okay and want me to come home soon. Probably the reason I had to cancel my dat-"
She stopped herself there, before she could reveal any further information. Mary's, Darci's and Toby's reactions went from sad to curious within the second.
"Um, your what now, Claire-bear? Your date?" Mary pushed. The subject of Enrique was soon forgotten.
Claire tried, she really did, but she couldn't hide a small smile beginning to form and her cheeks turning pink. This confirmed Mary's suspicions and earned a squeal from the two girls.
"OMG! Who is it? Is it someone we know?" Darci asked.
"How could you not tell us? Spill it Claire-bear," Mary teased. Claire turned to look at Toby.
"I think you know who it is."
Toby scratched his head. "How would I know who your date is? I mean, I know a guy- WAIT, is it?" Toby looked at Claire for confirmation. When she gave it, a sly smile and a firm nod, he pumped his fist into the air. "HAHAHAHA! I KNEW IT! FINALLY!" and did a victory dance.
