If you want to know the concept before reading, it can be found at the end of the story. No spoilers for those who don't want them ;)

Heidi was sitting on the bathroom floor, holding her bleeding nose. He had done it again. It wasn't exactly the first time her boyfriend, Juha, had hit her. For the first year everything was perfect in their relationship, but then something had changed. He had become a cold, evil version of himself. Juha would always get mad at her, yell at her and sometimes even hit her. "He didn't even hit that hard, my nose is just sensitive, I'm just sensitive." It was something Heidi used to tell herself. She didn't want to believe such a thing about her so-perfect boyfriend. She didn't want to believe that Juha was an asshole, and a terrible human being.

However, she had been warned about the man. Joonas, her friend and also her brother's best friend, had told her many times that their relationship wasn't healthy. It was toxic as hell. Deep down Heidi knew it too, she just didn't want to admit it. She wanted to give him a chance. One chance turned into a second chance, soon it was his third chance and so on. She always told Joonas it would be Juha's last chance. Unfortunately that kept going on for way too long. There weren't any easy solutions for the problem anymore. It had all gathered into a huge mess. Joonas wanted to tell her brother, Joel, about the situation. She didn't let him, though. The cottonhead really wanted to, but then he would break her trust. She wouldn't tell him about these things anymore, she'd be alone.

After cleaning up her face, she headed towards the door. Juha had left somewhere, Heidi decided she needed some company. That's why she wanted to see Joonas. She called him, asking if it'd be okay for her to go to his place. Of course it was, as always. Joonas would never decline and tell her to leave. She jumped into her car and drove off, waiting anxiously to get there. She knew the guitarist would be mad at her, because she let it happen again. But she just needed to tell him, nobody else knew about the situation. Even if Joonas was mad, he would never even think about hurting her or yelling at her. He knew it would only make everything worse. And if he ever hurt her, Joel would literally kill him.

Heidi pulled up at the blonde man's apartment building. There was one risk every time she came here; Joel lived in the same building as Joonas. If he happened to walk out when she got there, he would've seen her slightly bruised face. She didn't bother to put on any makeup, Joonas knew anyways. Hiding the bruises wouldn't help in any possible way. She sneaked quickly upstairs to Joonas' door and rang the bell. It didn't take long for him to open the door.

"Oh my God. That's not good, Heidi." He told her immediately as he looked at the bruises. The woman didn't answer, soon they got inside the apartment. She was sitting on his living room's couch while he was doing something in the kitchen. Not long after, he walked in the room with an ice bag in his hand.

"Here, put this on the worst one." He instructed and handed her the bag.

"Thanks. I don't know what I'd do without you."

"So. What happened this time?" He asked as he sat down next to her.

"I don't even know. It was fucking stupid. I just said something wrong and he got mad. I fucking hate it, Joonas! I hate it when he does this." She told him, a couple tears escaping from the corner of her eye.

"Then why can't you just break up with him?" Joonas asked.

"Because... I don't even know. I guess I'm just kind of hoping he would change. He didn't use to be like that." She explained, holding back a new set of tears.
