Kang Nari
"Who was that Ms. Nari?" Butler Kim asked as soon as Nari sat in the car. From her seat in the back, Nari could feel both Butler Kim and Woobin's gaze on her.
"Song Woobin." Nari simply replied.
Seeing her a bit anxious, Butler Kim nodded and hit the accelerator to get the car going. Nari's hand made its way to the bead bracelet around her wrist. It was then she realized that she had an entire conversation with Song Woobin, a mafia prince and a member of F4, without having to touch her bracelet even once. She was surprised to say the least.
"Butler Kim, what do you know about Song Woobin?" Nari couldn't help but ask.
Nari could see a shocked expression Butler Kim's face as his body tensed before he recomposed himself.
"Not much, Ms. Nari. I just know that he is an heir to Il-Sim construction. It is even said that his family has connections to the mafia." Butler Kim pondered.
"Despite these speculations, not much is known about him. His family never leaves a trace behind, and we all know that the personality they show in front of the media is more than likely scripted." He finished.
Nari nodded her head in agreement. She knew that it wasn't a big deal for rich people to have big secrets that they spent efforts in hiding. Her entire existence was a perfect example of that. She wondered how the world would react to her existence being revealed; to her being Lim Joo-Ik's daughter.
Lim Joo-Ik, Nari's father, was a well-established politician in South Korea. Lim Min-Chae, Nari's paternal grandfather, was a successful businessman in South Korea. Technically speaking, Nari, too, was a chaebol given the family's generational wealth. The point being that the business world and the political world in South Korea would greatly be impacted should her existence be revealed. Not to mention the treatment she gets at Shinhwa would all be lost because of her origins.
Nari wasn't too attached to the title of 'goddess of Shinhwa' but rather the humane treatment she got because of it. Nari was long used to being bullied in the west for her race and her looks that it felt nice being appreciated for once, regardless of how superficial that sounded.
The thought of being dreaded and bullied once again made Nari feel her heart rip apart. She never wanted to experience it ever again. She wondered if she was doing the right thing by not doing much for the people being bullied at Shinhwa. Having been a victim herself, was she being a hypocrite by being a bystander? But she stood up to them today, surely that counted for something?
That's because your own friend was about to pay the price.
Her subconscious mocked her. Nari's mind felt conflicted. Was she truly incapable to fight back or was she only pretending to avoid any sort of confrontation?
"Why do you ask, Ms. Nari?" Nari was pulled out of her thoughts by Butler Kim's voice. She was sure Butler Kim had noticed the faraway look in her eyes and decided to interrupt her thoughts for her own sake. She felt grateful to have someone who understood her enough to do these little things for her.
