Chapter 20

Fumiko POV
~In the court yard~
~6:45 AM~

I am waiting for the squad to come in the court yard. Shuhei, Sora, and a few other soul reapers from my squad have shown up. 'I will wait a little while until I tell them what the mission is.' I thought. Fifteen minutes latter the rest of the squad finally showed up, and Shuhei comes and stands by me. They all look really tired.

Fumiko-"Today we have a mission to kill hollows.... That have come to the Rukon district. We are to patrol the Rukon districts. I want you to be in 2 groups. Shuhei will be taking one group, and I will be taking the other. Be careful, and be safe." I explained.

We split in to 2 equal groups. I walked over to Sora.

Fumiko-"Sora you will be coming with me in my group."
Sora-"Fine." She said coldly.

We all go to the rukon district to start our patrol. When we get there Shuhei's group goes one way, and my group goes the other way. We all spread out so we could cover more ground. I've been walking for a while when I here a hollow roar near the forest. I ran towered it, and Sora follows me. When we reach the forest I see a big group of hollows.

Fumiko-"Sora go get the rest of the group, I will help killing the hollows." I tell her as I take out my zanpakuto.
Sora-"No, we can take 'em!" She yelled, and charges at the hollows.

'Idiot! You are so recluse.'

Fumiko-"Spark a blaze, Kasai Ryujin!" I yelled.

I charge at the group of hollows. They are stronger then normal, it's as if they evolved. I swing down, and cut the hollow in half. I turn around to see if Sora is doing alright, but she is not. She is surrounded. 'I need to help her.'

Fumiko-"Jigoku Muchi!"(Meaning is- Inferno Whip) I yelled, and suing my sword as a fire whip hits most of the hollows.

Sora has an surprised expression on her face. I run up to her. We are now back to back.

Fumiko-"If we are to survive this we will need to work together, work as one!" I said loudly.
Sora-"Alright, let's do this!" She yelled.

We attack the group of hollows as one. We killed all of the lesser hollows. There is just one more left. It is as strong or even a little stronger then an Arroncar. Sora charges at the hollow. She swings down. The hollow grabs her sword, and throws her to the ground.

I run towards the hollow, and swing down. Before I could hit it the hollow punches me through some trees. Blood trickled down my right side of my mouth. The hollow walks towards Sora. When the hollow reached her it is about to swing down and punch her. 'I have to get up, get up god dammit. I don't want to die, I don't want her to die, I don't want anyone to die. I want to protect her, I want to protect the ones I care about, I want to protect my squad.... So dammit body get the fuck up!' I thought. I get up, and flash-stepped in front of the hollow.

Sora POV

The hollow was about to punch me when Fumiko shielded me. I am so shocked in what I see. I see the hollows arm plunged through her chest. It started to ran.

Fumiko-"GUH!" She said in pain.
Sora-"AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" I screamed in horror.

Blood dripped from her chest and her mouth. The hollow pulled its arm out, and roars in satisfaction. Fumiko fell on top of me. A moment later I hear a group running towards me. In the next instant Shuhei and the other soul reapers come, and attack the hollow. 2 of the soul reapers take Fumiko to the 4th division. I couldn't comprehend what just happened.

'Why....Why did she do that? Why did she protect me?' I thought as I sit up, and look at my feet. It was about 15 minutes before I got up. I look at the puddle that has formed at my feet, I look bloody, beating up, and miserable. Shuhei and the others all ready killed the hollow. Shuhei came over to me.

Shuhei-"Come on let's go back to the barracks." He said kindly.

We went back to the barracks. I went to my room, and got cleaned up. Then went to do my normal duties.
