"What is human existence?
It turns out it's pretty simple:
We are dead stars,
looking back up at the sky."

Kang Yu-Jin may usually be described in one word (two if you'd like to be a smart ass): A bitch. She was cold and incredibly sarcastic to the point where you couldn't tell if she actually meant something or not, competitive in every sense of the word. Perhaps it was apart of the try hard athlete complex she had unknowingly bestowed upon herself ever since she transferred to Hyosan High School from her old school in Seoul, joining their basketball team as captain. Her parents had divorced just as she was entering her junior year of high school and her father had just found a job in the city of Hyosan as a detective. They would be staying with his sister's family until he had enough to get themselves an apartment, meaning that Kang Yu-Jin had to tolerate her cousin, Yoon Gwi-Nam, for the time being.

However, he wasn't as annoying as she expected and they actually got along (with the assistance of her younger brother, of course). And yet, when she first steps into her new classroom, nothing bothers her more than her desk mate: Lee Na-Yeon. Constantly complaining and constantly starting shit that was completely unnecessary. They hated each other and it was impossible for them to get along. Up until Yu-Jin stumbled upon the Lee girl on the way home to the apartment complex from a jog, being hit and yelled at by an older woman, who she could only assume was her mother.

From then on, Yu-Jin did her best to not insult the girl too harshly, going as far as to somewhat tolerate the girl and her unnecessary gossip and rumors that she stirred up all the time. They somehow managed to talk civilly one time; when the Kang had forgotten to ask for her pen back from the Lee girl and Na-Yeon had found her at basketball practice. It was a sight to behold, Han Gyeong-Su, Yu-Jin's closest friend and someone who could also barely tolerate the girl, would say. When she told him that they had walked home together, he went on and on about how it was some type of trope from a book or movie.

Kang Yu-Jin had brushed it off at the time, but when a virus that causes her peers and those around her to start biting each other and thus affecting others, she realizes what she truly feels for Lee Na-Yeon.

Perhaps, a little too late.

Choi Ho-Sung was well-known in Hyosan High School. Like his younger sister, he was his class' president, and was actually the president of the student council board for the school whilst his sister was the vice president. He was the captain of the baseball team and everyone around him knew that he'd get a scholarship to a great college because of his talent for baseball, carrying the team to nationals twice. However, his mother wanted him to go into politics. Any offer from an amazing college didn't change her mind either as it involved committing to baseball.

Basketball was Ho-Sung's drug of choice. Mother-related stress had spread to his younger sister, Choi Nam-ra, and where his drug of distraction was sports, hers was academics. However, they had one constant thing that they always shared when life seemed to despise them with all it's gut. A cigarette. They knew they shouldn't, but it felt as if they had no other choice. Well, he did. After all, Choi Ho-Sung could surely find comfort in his boyfriend, Han Gyeong-Su.

But the junior was tired of having to hide their relationship, constantly expressing it to Ho-Sung, who gave him the usual response: "We can be open when I'm fully ready." He wasn't ready to be open about his sexuality and relationship to essentially everyone at school. Not yet, at least. His mother would likely have his head and his father? He didn't even want to think about how he'd react. The only thing ━━ no, the only person, he could think about was Gyeong-Su. He was his happy pill in a sense, and he didn't want to lose him.

But he did.

It was his own fault for being a coward. Why did he even get into a relationship with the boy if he wasn't ready to even hold hands in the school halls? Choi Ho-Sung found himself yearning for Han Gyeong-Su more than ever, wanting to see his smile and listen to his horrid jokes and pickup lines that somehow made his heart burst. He missed him, and once he finally had the nerve, he did it.

He kissed him. In front of his entire team.

He couldn't gauge their reactions properly, and it was probably because a horde of bloodied students burst into the auditorium, growling and snarling and biting at his teammates. Soon, Choi Ho-Sung found himself fighting off zombified students, trying to survive in order to spend much needed time with the eight wonder in his life known as Han Gyeong-Su.
