Meriwa
Mer sighed as she held the paint swatches up to the wall for the thousandth time. They were in the process of converting their guest room into a nursery, and it was a lot more fucking work than she expected.
And no one would even let her do the manual labor part. It was just exhausting picking out things, deciding on color schemes, buying things, researching what kind of shit babies needed. She didn't have to do it, of course. They could hire someone to do it, or she could let the boys handle everything. But, she wanted to do everything...so she was.
As she was hoping for inspiration and digging through the box of baby items which had recently been delivered, the construction crew started sawing something again. Meri sighed, then threw a cute teddy bear she'd been holding back into the box with an annoyed huff.
Seeming to sense her irritation, Car stalked into the room and shut the door behind him with a smirk, muffling the sound slightly.
Meri looked at him and rolled her eyes before complaining. "Are they felling an entire forest out there or something?"
Carbry snorted at her irritation. "No."
She frowned, picking up a pair of baby shoes with smiley faces on them. After gazing at the shoes for a moment, her expression softened. Daryl had picked these one night when she had awakened to find him eating in the kitchen with only the nightlight on. He had been stuck on duty babysitting her that evening, and since it was just the two of them at home, she didn't want him to be alone.
So, Meri had crawled into his lap as he ate, pulling out her phone and doing some online shopping until she got sleepy again. Over a mouthful of raw steak, he had told her to buy these, and Meri didn't have the heart to point out that his taste in baby fashion was questionable at best.
Scowling once more when the contractors started banging around as she gently placed the shoes back in the box, she asked. "But how long does it take to install a staircase between our place and theirs?"
With barely a sound, Carbry snuck over to her and slid his arms around her waist from behind. "It will be worth it in the end when our apartments are connected, a mhuirnín. I know you don't like people in our space, but it's only temporary."
She frowned. "It's too noisy."
He chuckled while kissing the top of her head. "I know."
Sighing, she turned and faced him, burying herself into his shirt... which wasn't his shirt. Curiously, Meriwa pulled back to look at him, then laughed when she realized what he was wearing."Does Ryke know you've taken a liking to wearing his clothes, King Vampire?"
Car shrugged. "They're more comfortable than mine."
Mery grinned, squeezing him tight against her as she replied. "Not that I don't appreciate your ass in his jeans, but you're, like, super rich. Why not just buy your own?"
Following her question, Carbry's eyes glinted with amusement as he answered. "Because it annoys him."
She laughed and kissed his cheek before releasing him and returning her attention to the paint swatches. "I love you, Carbry. Now, should we go with the Kitten Whiskers Gray or the Blonde. James Blonde. off-white?"
Car rolled his eyes as he grabbed the swatches from her and pretended to think. "I love you, too. Why don't we just go with... a normal cream color?"
Meri smiled while picking a Fuzzy Wuzzy Brown swatch from the pile of little squares and holding it up to the wall. "Cause Ryke picked out all the color swatches and went purely based on their names."
