[3rd Person POV]

**FLASHBACK TO THE BUNKER**

"You said we had five years. We've only been down here for two," Madison says looking stressed to Kara.

Madison, Octavia, Kara, Indra, Kane, and Abby were all inside the main office of the bunker discussing an issue Kara had discovered regarding the hydro-farm.

The plants were becoming infected...the protein plants.

"I've done everything I could think of, short of eradicating the infected plants. For now, the fungus is contained to the soybean crop, but it won't be for long. I've salvaged a few of the healthy plants to use for seeds---" Kara explains before getting cut off,

"How long?" Indra asks.

"One year. Less with some luck," Kara answers and the mood inside of the room dampens even more. The atmosphere was tense as they all looked at one another.

They all knew what the answer was but nobody was saying anything not wanting to accept it.

"One year. Without a protein source?" Kane asks baffled.

"We all know what the answer is," the doctor, Abby, states.

"Abby." Kane says sternly refusing the undeniable.

"If we don't get at least ten percent of our calories from protein, over that amount of time, we'll starve to death. I'm sorry, Marcus, but that's a fact. There is only one potential source," Abby cuts to the chase.

"The fighting pits," Indra announces.

"Will it be enough? To last a year?" Octavia asks in shock.

"It should be once the crime rate starts to rise. And it will," Abby explains.

"Are we seriously talking about this?" Kane asks bewildered.

"What else are we supposed to do? Kane. Give us another solution," Madison snaps.

"There is no other solution," Abby says, no emotion whatsoever.

Cannibalism, it was.

[Madisons POV]

One step, then another, then another, then another.

Wonkru was on the march, on the inevitable march.

I was walking right behind Octavia, and behind me were Bellamy and Indra. I should be next to Blodreina but to be honest I had no idea what to say to her.

"Bellamy and Indra want to talk. I don't know what it's about but we disarmed them," I hear Miller say to Octavia. She nods her head, allowing them to go up to her.

"You're marching us into a massacre," Indra states angrily. Indra isn't very angry usually, so that should explain how intense this was.

"We'll see," Blodreina replied calmly.

"Echo radioed. Your enemy knows you're coming. We don't need to worry about the missiles, but they're moving their weapons into position," Bellamy explains.

"It's safe to assume that since there's only three realistic ways into the valley, that all three will be heavily defended," Indra adds.

"Echo's scouting now, looking for the best way in. But since we can't go back because you burned the farm, and since we can't stop because we'll starve, we thought we should let you know that you've killed your people," Bellamy snaps continuing.
