Ella's POV
"I just want to get this job over with! Two more months, it's not that long, is it?" I whine at Gale.
She drinks in one go her beer as she sits comfortably back at her chair. We are at our room's porch and having a drink as Gale suggested. The thing was that when we both started working that we wouldn't be able to have time to go out to have a drink at peace and going everynight at the staff's bar is not so much ideal, so we decided to stack up our fridge with beers and boozes so when we both needed some there was always available.
For a month now the ones who have been drinking the storage were me and her, leaving Nicole and Jane with some, as the two of them mostly slept than sitting with us. Okay, I may have dragged sometimes Nicole with me at the staff's bar because I know she hates staying in but her tiredness has got to her more than her need to go out.
"Yeah... two more months..." she signs.
I try to make her expression but as always she puts out the walls she has. She never shows them but if she wants someone to know she has something going on she will let you know without letting her walls down. Not even once.
"You know there is something I want to ask you." she states.
Here it goes. The talk I've been dreading out of embarassment... It's now or never I guess.
I nod for her to go on."You know last night, after you left, Cody was as he was.... as you saw and I may have slapped him." she goes on like it's nothing.
I widened my eyes in shock. Okay, this was not what I expected. "What?! Why? How? I mean..." I try to take some words out of my mouth.
"Honestly, he asked for it. After you left I thought, 'Ohh no...this is not going to go well' and it didn't. You know how he tries to hit on me, so this time he went a little further by trying to kiss me on the neck." she states like is the most normal thing in the world.
I just look at her. Blank.
"And... I mean, how did he get that close to you? You don't let him that close to you." I ask confused.
It's true. Gale doesn't let him go near her, I mean that close, only to the extent that it is consider appropriate for friends. I don't think I'm going to like the answer to that...
She looks at me with an expression that reads 'Are you kidding me?'
"Let me guess. Like he was trying to throw both of us in the water as an act of being playful, he did that again to you when you were the two of you and instead of letting you fall in the water he caught you and tried to kiss you in the neck. Correct?" I sign as I picture the scene.
Like it was written from a novel... God...
She nods as she tries to read my thoughts. Yeah, Gale it's exactly what you are thinking.
"You know what? If he doesn't understand that you don't want nothing from him apart from being friends and that you don't intent to break up, you know what you have to do, right? I think it's the best for both you to keep some distance because not only he pressures you emotionally when he is close to you but it is aslo bad for him as well because even if you are not giving him any right to do those things, he might think you are. When in reality you are not..." I try.
She nods knowningly at my statement but I can sence she picks something on my tone and it is like a light bulb got on over her head.
"Why did you leave like that last night? Was it because..."
She got on. I guess I gave her the confirmation she needed right now.
"It was because I was tired of being the third wheel." I cut her off.
