Nicole's POV

"Ok, you've got this... Remember Nicole! You are only here for work and nothing more. You don't have to engage in any drama and whatever happens, nothing will bring you down. You will still remain the cheerful person you are. Nothing more..."

I try to calm myself after this tired shift. It's being two tired weeks since I started working here but I feel like it's being ages. You know time flies too... slow...here. I mean it's only being four hours of work and I've felt like it's being a whole day. Don't get me wrong, we do have a lot of work to do but with the fact of how tiring it is, it's too much!

Ok I'm bubbling... I think, yes, you get how tiring it is.

"Are you ok there?" Zach asks me concerned as we polish the cutleries.

I wake up from my day dream and look up. I stare into oblivion as I try to regain focus. Zach looks at me confused trying to make out what's going on.

"Yeah...I think. Just tired." I mumble.

"Ok. If you say so." he lets it fall and goes back to his work as he tries to put another song in his phone.

He knows when not to push someone if he doesn't want to talk. That's the good thing I liked about him when I first met him. The funny thing is when I started working here was so awkward.
Believe me it's not easy to work to a place where your uncle guaranteed for you as the main storekeeper of this freaking hotel! They have quite enough expectations for you or so I thought... in the beginning...

I was like a fish out off its waters. I didn't know anything. I was out in the blue literally but with the help of these guys I got over it. I don't want to brag but I can say I'm quite the expert in waitressing. Ok, said anyone ever... Moving on...

"Ok, my shift is done. See you later!" I wave to Zach and get the hell out of here.

To be honest though, it's not that bad as I portray it to be. I mean even if the job is tiring I like working with these people and I have amazing things to say about them. The guys are funny and let's not forget our chief. He is, how do I say this, one of kind? Yeah.

Mr. Timothy cares about us like we are his kids. I remember our first meet like yesterday. I mean that guy for a fifty-year-old sure knows how to connect with young people.

"Hey! 'High-towered'! You can move up your pace, you know." I heard Mr. Timothy saying laughing to one of the guys as I closed the door.

"I know sir but I won't." he smirked.

God... those two are like kids fooling around all the time. Honestly I had the best laughs with them. Sometimes I forget how Mr. Timothy is our chief in charge rather than like our friend.

I lie down in bed and sigh. I don't even want to take off my uniform. How I came to this you may ask?

I'm a student of Physical Education & Sport Science - Dietetics and of course that science can't get you a job if you are an undergraduate and I need one after the pandemic so I had to ask for help from my uncle. So yeah... that's how I got the waitressing job without any experience in it and especially at a hotel.

I'm not regretting it but honestly with my past experiences and how my life used to be in Portugal and in general I feel like everything turned around way too quickly. Like crazy quickly and I know when I'm talking about crazy. Not to brag but I'm definitely the definition of crazy I just haven't opened up here yet to show its full capacity.

A notification from my phone throws me out of my thoughts and grouch to get up to get it.

'Hi, Nicole! I'm informing you that your new roommate is coming tonight so if you would be so kind after your night shift to come and pick her up' Mr. Kingston texted.
