The Great Heretic Crusades

Chapter 14

Our ship descended down with all haste it could afford us. Upon arrival, the guns had activated, and fired at the Heretics down below. It hovered nearby, looking for a landing spot.

"Keckin' hell. Not much room to land. You're gonna have to jump, guys. I'll get you as close to the ground as I can. You know what to do next" Jake said as me as I approached the ships hatch, and there stood James, Nick, and Chloe.

"Is everyone ready?" I asked the others

"Define ready for me, Captain" Nick responded as I held my massive rifle in my arms. I stood by the hatch as I pressed the button, the hatch slowly opening and the loud wind breaching through.

"Chloe, I need a location of Ross" I requested

"Ross is busy hiding out in his castle. He thinks that he's safe in there, but he doesn't know that we're coming for him." Chloe responded

"You sure you want in on this?" I asked

"I'm always looking for a good gunfight, Henderson. Especially if I get to kill my own kind" Chloe responded with a smirk, and I looked back outside.

I looked at the skies and saw multiple ships like ours enter the planet, being shot by enemy forces. I looked down and saw the ground support, leading the main assault.

"Hey, Henderson. Here, take this. I used the disguise model you used back at Antho-Con, and built these wings. They'll slow down a long fall, and increase the high of your jumps" Chloe said as she put a small metal pack on my back, and out came a pair of metal wings, being a grey and black color, like my armor.

"Long Fall setting was good enough, thank you much" I said as the wings closed

"This'll be better. Trust me" Chloe said as I took a step back and jumped out of the ship. I dived down as the wings opened automatically, having me land on the ground safe and sound. I looked beside me as the others landed nearby.

"They're good, aren't they?" Chloe asked me.

I didn't respond as I looked into the distance, and saw the massive castle Ross was hiding out in.

"Now team, gather in. Today, is our last chance to topple the Furry Empire. Ross is finally closer to us now than he's been in 15 years. We head to his castle, find him, and put a bullet between his eyes. We do this, and the Furries so-called technological leap turns to a drop" I explained to the others.

"One problem, Captain. The castle is protected by heavy machine guns that'll shoot our men down. We need those guns taken out if we want to advance to the castle." James said

"Captain, if I may. I've located a gun already downed, but the surrounding guns are still online. You'll have to quickly go through the destroyed guns path to avoid the surrounding fire. Get inside, and we'll follow" Chloe said as the four of us advanced to the castle.

Upon arrival, I looked around and saw multiple Automatons of all classes advancing to the castle, being shot down by the guns. I looked at the destroyed gun and quickly ran down the path, barely avoiding the surrounding shots.

I arrived behind the guns as I walked over to one, disabling the AI system controlling the gun. I did the same with the surround guns as multiple soldiers got closer to the castle.

"Grand, grand! Nice one Captain. Our men are advancing, now let's get to the castle and kill Ross" James said as the four of us approached the castle door.

"Doors locked. Can't get in" I said

"The grapple attachment you have Captain should work. Let's get inside and find Ross" Chloe said as I used my wrist pad and activated the grapple attachment. I fired it at the window above the door as I began climbing up the wall with the others beside me.
