2016, 𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝚝𝚠𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚢-𝚜𝚒𝚡That night, I finally slept. I don't know if it was because I felt safe with Alexander, or because I had a purpose to fulfill and I needed to be rested, but I slept. I kept both my birthday and my engagement rings on, hugging them close to my chest while I slept.
Of course I didn't get a full night's rest, barely four hours, but that's more than what I've been getting these past few months. I dreamt of a happier time, a time with him. Times I wouldn't get back.
But, being myself, I pushed my thoughts aside once dawn came. Regretfully, I pulled myself out of my bed and sauntered over to Alex, who was sleeping soundly.
I picked him up gently, and he awoke. He sleepily grasped at my messy blonde waves, placing them in his mouth. "No, no, babe. That hurts Auntie, okay?" I mumbled, prying his little hands away.
Alex perked up at the name I called myself, before babbling to himself. "Auntie! Auntie, Auntie, Auntie!" He said, and I smiled.
Swiftly and smoothly, I placed Alex on my hip, before moving to the bathroom to get myself ready. Somehow, with someone else to care for other than myself, I grew scarily motivated.
Motivation hadn't been in my thoughts since Bucky went under. What was the point in taking care of myself, when the person who I used to take care of was gone? I didn't have a purpose, but with Alex, I did. And it was refreshing, to say the least.
So, I brushed and braided my blonde hair and placed in my colored contact. Then I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and used the bathroom, before changing out of my pajamas into white pants and a white long-sleeved shirt. I observed my hearing aids, before only putting one in. Shuri offered to advance my hearing aid, but the last time she did she almost burned my ears off, so I respectfully declined.
Leaving my room with a baby on my hip, I walked through the halls of the palace, before arriving at the dining area, where I sometimes had meals with the royal family, and other important guests. When I wasn't feeling up to socializing, I didn't attend meals. When I was having a good day, I always spent my time with them.
"Goodmorning siblings, goodmorning your highness." I said to T'challa and Shuri, and then to their mother, Ramonda.
The Queen Mother smiled, before getting up from her chair and engulfing me in a hug, and then leading me over to the table. "Sweet girl, you must be starving, taking care of this child." She said, gently lifting Alexander into her arms, who happily obliged.
I smiled, and thanked the server who brought me a plate full of food, before speaking. "He actually doesn't cry that much, he never has." I said, taking a bite of my food, and giving a piece of my bagel over to Shuri who tried and failed to steal it.
T'challa and The Queen Mother sighed at our childish banter, and the latter turned her attention to Alex and I. "If you should ever need a break, you know where to find me, dear." She said, and I lightly smiled.
"Honestly, Queen Mother, I think he gives me that break." I stated, stopping Alexander from falling off of Queen Mother's lap as I spoke.
T'challa smiled largely, like he was happy that his family was reacting so well to my arrival. "Alessia, would you care to join me for another walk today? I have some time free, and I enjoy spending it with you." The King said.
I nodded my head, finishing my food. "I would very much enjoy that."

T'challa and I were alone, in a beautiful Wakandan forest. Of course, we weren't really alone, as this was the King, but T'challa's watchers were great at hiding. Alexander was with the Queen Mother, one of the few people I trusted with my Godson. We stopped our walk near a large waterfall, having a view of the whole kingdom.
