chapter thirty-two

Narae sat in one of the studios, idly rotating back and forth in the swivel chair. She was alone for once, not wanting any producers or cameras in there as she worked on a song. She wasn't even sure yet if it would make it to the album, she just knew she wanted to get it out of her system.

Some days were like that though. In the process of making an album, many songs got recorded and discarded, never to be actually released. The one she was currently working on was an instrumental she'd composed, but never got round to putting lyrics to it. She'd written a few lyrics for it over the months, but the bulk of them had come to her in the last few days.

She let the music fill the room, singing along with the new lyrics she'd thought of. A buzz from her phone interrupted her and she pulled it out to check it, a smile spreading across her face when she saw who was messaging her.

On the other end, a similar smile took over Jungkook's face. He was happy that she responded so quickly. He had just under an hour to kill, and he had nothing to do, so he figured he'd disturb Narae to pass the time.

Looking at her message, he found it endearing how she always added little x's at the end. He'd asked about it once and she'd said it was just a British thing. In his head, he liked to think they were kisses just for him. He ignored how sad it was that he couldn't seem to get any in real life.

Minutes later, Jungkook arrived, knocking gently before opening the door to the studio.

"Hey." He said as he walked over to envelop her in a warm hug.

Narae pulled back to grin at him, her heart fluttering from their close proximity, "Hi."

The two of them separated and moved to the couch, sitting down and facing each other.

"So, tell me, what amazing song are you working on now?" Jungkook posed the question with a smile, tilting his head as he spoke.

"It's honestly not a big deal, just something I've been playing around with. I've had the track sitting around for a while, and I've working on it a bit but I've added some new lyrics to it. Do you want to listen?"

"Nah, I just came here to sit in silence." Jungkook replied sarcastically with a teasing grin on his face, making Narae push his shoulder playfully as she rolled her eyes.

"You're so annoying." Narae responded as Jungkook winked at her. She got up to play the instrumental, before sitting back down again next to Jungkook. He adjusted himself to be more comfortable as the music played through the speakers, nodding his head along to the beat as he listened intently to Narae singing along.
