"why are you giggling so much?" riki asked, looking at jungwon endlessly typing into his phone. "i'm just texting" he replies, still focused on the screen.
"so you have a girlfriend?"
jungwon stops on his tracks, looking over at the boy with a dumbfounded expression on his face. he honestly thought it should've been painfully obvious by now, but apparently it wasn't obvious enough.
"i'm gay, nishimura" riki's eyes widened, wait... he is?
"t-that's cool, m-me too" he says, becoming shy all of a sudden. if he had grown to like jungwon in the months he spent secretly living in his room, no one would know.
he had to admit he felt a spark of hope for a second, but it soon went out once he remembered his situation.
so what if he's gay too? its not like i can do anything like this. riki thought facepalming, so instead he chose to keep bugging jungwon and get him to tell him what was he so excited to text about.
"okay okay fine... there's this guy from my chemistry class and he asked if he could come over to study together" jungwon announced, his voice was slightly muffled by his fist which he kept pushing over his mouth to hide his shy smile.
"he's coming over today?"
"yeah, actually he should be here in about 10 minutes so i'm asking you to please stay out of my room while he's here, we don't know if he can see you and i really don't wanna risk anything"
riki stayed silent. he was annoyed, or more specifically, he was jealous. why did he have to leave over some guy jungwon hadn't even mentioned up until today? "do you like this guy?"
"what? pshh, no, he's my friend" jungwon answered quickly, trying to act as if his cheeks weren't tinted just by thinking of the boy in question, and that only made riki's jealousy grow. could he be any more obvious?
right before riki could get a single word out, loud knocks made jungwon run out the door in a blink. the younger walked behind him, peeking at the front door from the top of the staircase, seeing how he greeted a tall, black haired boy as he let him in.
he's not that cute... riki thought, then his eyes met jungwon's, who was nervously staring up at him. jay, the boy standing next to him, had a worried expression on his face. "hey won, you okay? you look like you just saw a ghost"
his eyes scanned the staircase until he reached the spot where jungwon had been staring, making the two younger boys freeze in shock. they weren't sure if he was seeing the phantom or not, so riki thought the smartest move would be to wave at him and see if he waves back.
he did not react to it, instead he asked "is that your room over there?" pointing at riki, who just happened to be standing right at jungwon's bedroom door. jungwon sighed in relief and nodded, taking the boy upstairs for their study session.
riki quietly observed the two from his little corner of the closet throughout their whole "study session", realizing their science class wasn't the only thing with chemistry in it. and to his misfortune, that also meant he'd probably start to see and hear a lot more about this jay guy than he would like to.
