"hey riki, i'm going out with a few friends tonight, you okay with being alone?" jungwon asked as he entered the bedroom, browsing through his closet for something to wear.
"you've left me home alone for months and now you're worried?"
"i didn't know you were here idiot, now that i do i don't like leaving you alone like this"
the youngest sighed at those words, jungwon was really strumming his heartstrings without having a clue. he sat on his bed and watched as the older got dressed, not that he was trying to be a perv, he just liked jungwon's little habits for getting ready.
"you shouldn't worry about me, won. it's not like i can die a second time" he laughed, but jungwon didn't seem to enjoy the little joke. "you know, i think you should cut down the dark humor a bit"
"does it bother you?"
"i just think you're hurting yourself instead of coping, you can't find peace like that, ki" he frowned, the younger just sat there in silence. jungwon was right, his jokes were just making things worse for him, but he didn't know what else to do.
i mean, what else could he do? he couldn't get his life back or go to japan and see his family one more time, all that was left was to accept his fate and wait to see when or if he'd pass on to his next life.
jungwon's gentle voice shook him out of his thoughts, giving him a possible solution to his pain.
"talk to the moon, that's what i do when things get bad. you won't necessarily get the answers you want, but she's a good listener" he smiled tenderly.
"i'll be back before midnight"
and with those five words, riki was left home alone thinking maybe i'll give it a shot.
10:38pm
riki sat on the roof of the yang household, breathing shakily as he looked up at the moon. it was brighter than ever, or maybe it just seemed that way because he had spent too much time hiding from the night sky.
taking a few breaths, the boy allowed himself to speak up.
"hey, um... since we're under the same sky, could you deliver a message for my mom?"
the moon of course did not reply, but the gush of wind that blew gave him the push he needed to go on.
"mom, if you somehow hear me, wherever you are, please know that i'm okay. i've met a great boy, his name is yang jungwon. he's been helping me find the truth behind my death, and i asked him to message konon whenever he can. being a ghost isn't half bad but god... i miss you guys so much." a tear rolled down his cheek as he sighed.
"sola's all grown up huh? you better tell ko to keep the boys away from her in my place" he giggled, "oh, and tell them i've seen their progress, jungwon showed everything to me. they've come really far since the last time we danced together, i'm really proud. i'm proud of all of you actually. please continue to move on and live long and happy lives. i wont ask you to forget me, i'd actually feel bad if you did, but don't stay stuck on me for too long. you did a great job at raising me, and i'm sorry for all the times i refused to listen. i wish i could actually tell you how much it all meant to me, and hear your voice one more time, ma"
by now, the boy's tears flowed like a river, causing him to stutter and stumble on his words. and although he was crying, he felt an immense sense of peace he hadn't felt in a long time.
"i love you, and i hope we can meet again someday. maybe you could find jungwon, i've already asked him to deliver my last message in case i pass on to my next life. he's really amazing, i know you would love to have him as a son-in-law, maybe next time it'll all work out for us. that's all i have to say for now, i'll come back to tell you more during the next full moon, i promise"
