"Mom," Victoria said in bewilderment as her mother stood so close to him and pulled her lips away from Xilliorn's. She was disgusted as she stood there watching them hold hands. He was just using her and her mother for their kindness. What a mean bastard to do this to her and her mother. She can't believe it but she saw it with her own eyes.
"Victoria it's not what it seems." Her mother tried to explain to her what had just happened as she took a step aside, leaving Xilliorn standing like some kind of stone statue. He just stood there like a beautiful statue like a god who didn't come from heaven but from hell. Victoria was so angry at this moment that she took a step closer to Xilliorn who was still standing there like a shell deeply sunk in his thoughts. Her mother left them standing in her guilt as Victoria went over to Xilliorn and punched him in the face.
"Go, you are only using us and I have had enough of you. Normally I would give you a second chance but you are just not worth it."
She saw that Xilliorn woke up and grabbed her hand as she went to punch him again. He is still silent which added to the tension between them. When he was angry she knew what to expect but when he was this quiet she didn't know what he could do to her or would want to do to her.
"Victoria," he said as he brought her hands closer to his face making her feel his hard warm cheek where she had hit him even before it turned blueish. She couldn't believe she'd done this. That Victoria Rondy did this, she did this. How could she hurt this big man with all that strength?
"Can't you see things are happening here? I've never been hit by a woman and even gotten anything out of it while your hit has given me a bruise. I've never been afraid of anything, but you."
He said the words that were in his mind but not uttered before it. She knew he was not a talker and certainly not about feelings. Which made her know he was telling the truth.
"What's happening?" She felt his big hand grab her small soft hand again and pull her along to another room where her mother couldn't hear them."That witch did something and I have a feeling of what, but I have to be more careful, you have to be more careful. Look at your arm, look at the bite marks. Do you see it?"
She looks as he told her as she sits down on the couch in their living room. The scratch from her wound had changed from red to a blueish color. Victoria thought she was dreaming and rubbed her eyes to get the sleep out, but the color didn't disappear. She rubs angrily to get the red color back though nothing happens. Then she feels the couch move as she is pressed against Xilliorn who takes a seat next to her as his weight pulls her towards him. He grabs her arm and makes her hand stop rubbing it as it only begins to turn bluer.
"You finally see what I see. Don't be afraid it's just an herb it will subside." Said he in a low voice which made her calm down for a moment until he takes his hand off the scratches and she panicked again from the sight of it.
She felt his warm body come even closer and took her into his warm arms which made her realize that he had no t-shirt on. She was so enchanted by his body she looked closely at the chest she was lying against and noticed a burn mark on his left breast muscle. She rubbed it gently forgetting what they had discussed earlier and ran her finger over the lines that had already faded a bit with time.
"What is this?" She asked Xilliorn who looked at her fingers going over the lines. "It is a brand of our group the Vandeliar guards." She had heard him talk about this group before. Victoria tried to remember what he had said about them, that this included the greatest warriors of his realm. At first, she thought it was all lies and total nonsense, but now she was beginning to believe in him.
"Did it hurt?" Victoria asked him as she continued to run her fingers over his burn mark, with the slightly faded lines now. When he casts his eyes back into hers she let go of him and sat down a few inches away from him on the other side of the couch so that her hip was no longer touching hims.
"No, I've been hurt much harder and even seen near death a few times. It was a hard life in Berklia but I loved it. It was my life, my existence. He stood up and looked out through the window where he looked at the garden shed, again completely introspective. As silence fell between them Victoria sighed causing him to look up at her before he ignored her again and just looked out the window.
While he remained standing there Victoria got ready to go to school and grabbed her bag and waited for Xilliorn to come but when he still didn't move she just left and left him standing there sunk in his thoughts. While she wondered during her walk in the woods what all he had meant. Too lost in her thoughts she wandered through the forest where she now heard different sounds everywhere that scared her. It was all because of Xilliorn's suspicious behavior and he had been right before what if there is real danger lurking here in the woods.
After a walk of over an hour in the forest, she arrives at school where she sees Xilliorn already standing at his locker looking at her with a question mark. She ignored his gaze why he is asking her for answers she didn't want to answer. The first class they had to go is the art class. The class of Professor Drondioris who had attacked Xilliorn yesterday for no reason she thought yesterday, today she is not sure if it was for no reason.
"Hello professor," Victoria said to her teacher as she stepped into the classroom next to him where he was looking straight at Xilliorn in thought. Xilliorn remained standing in the doorway where they continued to stare at each other before the professor took the lead and held out his hand to give him a sign to enter. What Xilliorn did with his tail between his legs as they would say he was so shy or just so tense as if this thing between them was still going on which was certainly true what she had seen all yesterday she couldn't believe he was some creature from Berklia. Her teacher always helped her and took care of her in her first moments in this school so she wouldn't fail every class by helping her with her homework. He even worked overtime to give her an extra hour of tutoring. So what is so wrong with this man who is always so nice to her.
When class started she did notice some differences in his behavior she thought she saw a glimpse of a scale. What kind of nonsense is that because dragons do not exist and certainly not here in this world. Today the assignment was on drawings with charcoal. What Xilliorn was trying to do she didn't know because he broke the charcoal so many times, more than he had drawn on the paper in front of him. She even laughed when he broke another pencil. Victoria sat down next to him and did help him by letting him see how to use it. Before he broke another pencil what made it useless to try it another time.
When class ended, the tension between the two men was so high that she was afraid they might turn on each other at any moment. The bell rang and before Victoria could grab Xilliorn's hand to go outside like the other students did he detached himself from her. Apparently, he already had other plans for this day or for this teacher you could say.
