Secrets || Draco Malfoy

Sixteen

We all go to the burrow.
First day there and an owl appears on the windowsill.

"Who's this for so soon?" Molly says. She opens the window and the bird flies over to me. It drops a letter in my hand.

"Who's it from?" George asks.
"Probably her boyfriend." Fred says to him.
"Not wrong." Ron says.
"Who?" Ginny asks.
"Draco." Hermione says.
"We're not dating." I say.

I open it and it's neat handwriting.

"Dearest Y/n
I know break just started, but I wanted to tell you that I did decide to stay at school. I really don't want to go back home right now. I miss you. It's boring without running into you everywhere. Also Blaise has a suspicion that we're seeing each other secretly. The owl I sent is extremely fast and he'll wait for you to give him something to return. This break needs to go by a little faster so we can finish what you started.

I laugh softly.
"So what did he say?" Hermione asks.
"It's from someone called me." I say. With that I get up and walk away.

I go upstairs and begin to write.

"Dear Blondie,
I'm glad you stayed at school. I miss you too. They won't stop making jokes about us dating though, so it's complicated. I agree break does need to hurry up and end. Also I think you'd love to know that I have not taken your ring off.

I run down and give the owl the letter and he leaves.

"So I hear you and Malfoy?" George asks.
"No." I say.

"Really?" Fred says.
"Really."
"If you say so." Ginny says.
"What?" I ask.
"You two are just quite close."
"We're friends." I say annoyed. "Close friends." I add.

"She seems quite eager to defend herself." Fred says.
"Agreed." George says.
"Merlin." Molly says. "You and the Malfoy boy?"
"No." I say.
"Y/n, just be careful okay. His family is associated with he who shall not be named." She says.
"Molly, I'm grateful for your concerns, but Draco is actually really nice. I trust him." I say.

"Doesn't sound like friends to me." George says to Fred. Fred playfully elbows me.  I roll my eyes.

Merlin this is going to be a long break.

A couple days go by and nothing much has changed other than more letter. There's also only two more days until break ends.

We all go down to eat dinner.
"Y/n." Fred says as an owl flies over to me.
"Merlin that's what the 15th one this week." Ron says.
"Don't be dramatic, Ronald." I say.

"I'll be right back." I say going upstairs with his letter in hand. His owl following behind me.

I sit on the bed and read it.

"Dearest Potter
I know there's only two more days left of break but I miss you. I can't wait until you get back. I'll be waiting for you. I have a lot to tell you, but that can wait for when I see you. And regarding your last letter, yes I have improved my progress on the cabinet, but that's what I have to tell you.

I also want to tell you this in here, because I don't think I have the guts to tell you it in person. You are the best thing to happen to me. I still think about how horribly I treated you in the past. I feel awful. It doesn't even make sense because I idolized you. I liked you. Anyways that's about it. Goodbye I'll see you in two days.

I smile as I read. I start to write.

"Dear Malfoy,
I'm so glad to hear that you've made progress. I also miss you and I can't wait to see you. I'm so glad breaks almost over.

You are genuinely the person I feel closest with Malfoy. You make me the happiest I've been in so long. Thank you for telling me. Goodbye, I'll be waiting for you.

I go downstairs and the owl leaves with the letter.
"What'd the letter say?" Harry asks.
"Probably him confessing his unbearable love for her." Fred says.
"Oh Y/n I say your name in my sleep." George says fanning himself dramatically.
"I dream of you and me living together." Fred adds.

"You're all I can think about." Ginny adds. "Day and night."

"You mean the world to me." Ron says.
"You're the best thing to happen to me." Hermione says. My heart drops. That's what he said.

They're all laughing.

"Oh knock it off you lot." Harry says. "I'm sure Y/n knows what she's doing."
"Yeah, so do we. Draco Malfoy." Fred says. They all laugh again as I roll my eyes.

I stand up to grab a plate to hide how red my face is.

After we eat we all start getting ready for bed.

I talk to hermione.
"Hermione, we kissed."
"What?"
"After slughorns party. I kissed him."
"Oh my god." She says.
"I definitely like him."
"That's obvious." She says.
"He's just misunderstood Mione. He's not bad." I say.
"I don't know. I trust you to make the correct choices." She says.

I sigh and look out the window. There's fire.
"Bloody hell." I mutter running out.

I see Death Eaters. I grip my wand tighter.

I see Harry run after Bellatrix. Ginny follows.
"Ginny! Harry!" I yell.

"Y/n don't!" Arthur yells at me from the window.
"Sorry!" I yell running after them.

I don't see them. A death eater I've never seen stands infront of me. I tighten my grip on my wand. Bellatrix appears behind me.

"Back so soon?" I ask her. "I'm starting to think you miss me." I add smirking.

"I've got this one." She says to the guy. Just that that he disappears.

"Stupify!" She yells. I dodge it.
"Come on, Bella." I say. "I can call you Bella right? I like Bella."
"I'll make an exception since it's the last thing you'll say." She says walking closer.
"Doubtful." I say.

"Diffindo!" I yell pointing to her arm. She screams as her arm gets cut. She drops her wand.

"Expelliarmus." I whisper pointing to her wand making it fly back into the bushes.

I hear her mutter foul words as I run back to everyone to tell them what happened.
