Murder

Ae's POV:

I was left frozen on the spot as I saw the screen that was showing the picture of a man lying in pool of blood. For the first time ever in my life, I felt fear, and it wasn't for my life but for the person sitting next to me. I felt my heart clenched and goose bumps arise on my body.

I composed myself and then asked the young lad beside me, "Pete, would you mind staying at my place today? Please...." I begged. I knew he won't deny and also, this was needed for his safety. "But Ae..." he tried to protest and I silenced him by placing my index finger on his lips.

"No but... You are coming with me and that is final." I stated. He smiled upon hearing those words and I retrieved my finger back and signaled to Can. He handed me his car keys and we walked out of the building while moving towards the parking lot. The technical team had already scanned the place to check for threats before we left.

I helped Pete to make himself comfortable on the passenger seat and buckled his seat belt before rushing to the driver's side. I played some soft music before starting the car and then driving out of the parking lot making my way home. I can see a sweet smile playing on Pete's lips and unconsciously, my lips too curled up.

We were now parked in the premises of my house and I rushed to the passenger side to help Pete step out. The guards immediately rushed to us but I signaled them to stop while we walked towards the entrance.

When we stepped into the house, all the staff who were busy with their chores stopped their work and looked at us. It's not their mistake though because they have never seen me bring anyone home and also, I have never been this soft to anyone. I can see their confused expression and thought of informing them about Pete before they could conclude anything.

"Hello everyone, I would like you to meet our new family member, Pete. He will be staying with us more often so I expect you all to respect him." I can hear my voice echoing through the room. "Sawasdee khrab." Pete greeted everyone while making a wai. They all had their eyes widened looking at the manner Pete was behaving. Nevertheless, I saw some faces getting lit up with smile and they all nodded in response.

I smiled internally seeing their reaction because they hardly showed any emotion on their faces. I guided Pete upstairs and towards my room. I would have allowed him to stay in a room of his own but I was kind of greedy. "Ae, where are we?" Pete inquired. "In my house and now inside my room." I replied.

I made Pete sit on the couch and then thought of calling the staff to get some tea. But even before I could make a call, there was a knock on the door before it was pushed open and the maid walked in carrying the tray and placed it on the tea table.

The maid was about to leave so I hurried to ask, "Can has arrived?" "Yes sir... He arrived just now." She replied. "Alright, ask him to come to my room." I said. She nodded and left while I walked back to Pete.

I sat down beside him and held his hand in mine, stroking it gently. "Pete, I just have something urgent to take care of. I'll go and return soon meanwhile Can will give you company." I said. "But Ae.... Is it important?" he inquired. "Kind of... But I won't be long gone." I assured.

Just then, the door was pushed open and Can walked in. "Awww... So someone is already here. Why do I smell chocolate cookies?" Can asked while making himself comfortable on the sofa chair. "Because the maid had already brought some." I replied while handing him a cup of tea.

"Can, I will be going out for a while so please give company to Pete." I said. He had that confusing look when I gestured him where I was heading to. He frowned but then I had no other way. "But you better not be late and make Pete wait. Otherwise, I won't allow you to spend a little time with him." Can threatened. "Ah!! I will return even before you could have dinner." I replied.
