Rose's POV

Smokescreen came speeding out of the base behind me, but he slowed down and stopped when he saw me standing there.

"What are you doing out here?" He asked.

"Thinking. Need to clear my mind." I replied.

"Me too." He huffed.

"Mind if I come with?" I asked.

He opened the door and I grinned, climbing in. A slight bubble of-

I am straight up craving milk so bad that I just wrote "a bubble of MILK"

He opened the door and I grinned, climbing in. A slight bubble of guilt rose up in me, but I pushed it down quickly. I needed to do this.

I needed to know what was up with Kate.

"So what's bothering you?" I asked, hoping to at least help out Smokescreen since I wasn't telling him about the con on our tail.

Optimus's broken star saber felt a little bit heavier in my pocket suddenly as if it was trying to guilt trip me too.

Hey! I needed something that had an Iacon beacon on it so the bots could save me if I made a Smokescreen-like getaway.

You know... jumping off the Nemesis...

"I fail my first mission ever and Arcee blows up on me!" Smokescreen complained.

"Oh that's not your fault. Arcee's last two partners-"

"Died. I know, and I'm sorry, but that has nothing to do with me." Smokescreen huffed.

"Except they were both cocky and arrogant. Cliffjumper and Tailgate, destined for their last words to be some snarky comment. You are both cocky, arrogant, and you're new. You remind Arcee of them. She doesn't want you to get hurt and she won't accept her own feelings, so she's taking out those emotions on you. You can't blame her." I explained.

"Wow. I never thought of it like that." Smokescreen said.

I shrugged, "Well, neither did I. Ellah analyzed everyone. That's her theory. She's usually right."

Suddenly, flashes of red light shot by us and I grimaced.

"It's the cons!" Smokescreen exclaimed in panic, doing a bunch of turns to avoid getting hit.

"Razorbeak, to be accurate." I nodded.

"Why didn't you tell me!? Or better yet, why did you come with me!?" He demanded.

"Long story." I shrugged.

He transformed and held me in one hand while aiming the other at Lazer beak. I winced, knowing what was about to come next.

We were suddenly knocked backward by a silent wave of energy. Smokescreen grunted, slamming onto the ground a ways away and I rolled out of his hand, coughing up dust.

"Rose." He muttered weakly and I crawled to his leg, my head pounding as I grabbed onto his mesh.

Soundwave's shadow loomed over Smokescreen before I felt him begin to drag him off. Another portal opened.

"Smokescreen!" Optimus yelled and they could be heard running toward us.

I shivered as I went through a groundbridge for the first time and our terrian changed from dry sand to dull gray metal.

I held on tightly to Smokescreen's pede, slightly nervous about being in the Nemesis.

Soundwave pulled him into Knockout's lab and I frowned, looking around. I was unable to spot Ellah or Kate, but I did see Megatron's lobster feet.
