We Meet Again, Gilbert - Chapter 1

I came to school, I walked in and hanged my hat and coat.

I saw a smiling Anne walking towards me, "Hello there, Anne!" I grinned. "Hello, Y/N!" She exclaimed.

"You will not believe who is here!" Anne spoke. I gave her a confused look.

I noticed that there were a lot of my classmates surrounding.. something?

I couldn't believe who I just saw..

Gilbert Blythe!! My bestest of best friend ever! "Gilbert!" My eyes widened and I screamed,

running over to him, "I've missed you so much!" We both shouted.

I hugged him tight, wrapping my arms around his neck.

I let go and we both locked eyes..

"Alright. Open your readers to page 40." I heard Mr.Phillips walk in and say.

"Oh-" we all sat down and began doing what he said.

I did my work, I decided to look at Gilbert.

I was staring at him for a fat minute.. and I'm surprised that Mr.Phillips didn't notice and get me in trouble for not doing my work.

Gilbert turned his head and caught me staring at him.

shoot, shoot, shoot!!

I quickly looked away and started doing my work again like if nothing ever happened.

I heard a light chuckle from Gilbert, I gulped.

After school, I walked home, I heard some footsteps getting closer, before I could turn around, I heard Gilbert say, "boo!"

I yelped and held my chest, I panted and looked at him, angry. This boy.

All I heard was Gilbert cackling, "Not funny!" I punched his arm playfully.

"So, you wanna go on a picnic, love?" He offered and smiled, I looked at him and chuckled.

"Of course." I smiled, "Alright, great!" He replied before walking away.

I looked at Gilbert and then continued walking home.

I finally got home, I greeted mother before going up to my room and do homework.

I sat on my bed and began doing my homework, I couldn't stop thinking about Gilbert.. he's so dreamy.. wait! No! Y/N you don't like Gilbert!!! He's your best friend!

I almost finished my homework but realized that I needed to go to the picnic-

I left my homework there and went to the closet and picked out a cute outfit..

I found one with pink and puff sleeves.

I decided to put a ribbon in my hair too.

I'd make sure I looked good. Wait.. why do I care what he thinks? He's my best friend Y/N! Snap out of it!! God!!!

I shook my head and went downstairs, "And where do you think you're going, young lady?" Mother asked.

I turned around, "Uh, look mother, can I just explain it to you later please? I need to go-"

she interrupted me by saying, "No! You tell me where you're going right this minute, right this minute I say!"

I sighed, knowing that I'll get in trouble but- screw it.

I ran as fast as I could, I needed to see Gilbert.

"Y/N!! Come back here!" She shouted.

I remember Gilbert gave me his address, so I got to his house and panted from all the running.

I slowed down my breathing and knocked on the door.

And there I saw, my bestest of friend.

"Wow! You look absolutely gorgeous!" He spoke, causing me to blush lightly.

"Thank you!" I chuckled, Gilbert smiled and led me to a place under a tree, with snacks.

Woah.. those are a lot of snacks. "Wow.. you did this all for me?" I asked, turning to him.

He nodded and laughed, "You're my best friend, Y/N. No one could ever replace you." He spoke, causing me to blush once again.

I grinned ear to ear, we began talking about stupid stuff and laughing.

"No, because-" he chewed on his snacks,

"How is that even possible?! That one grain of rice-" we both laughed to the point where our stomachs started to hurt.

"Shut up!" We cackled,

Man. I missed this.

We finished all of the snacks and we laid down, resting. I turned to him, "You're the best." I laughed-

He took my hand, "Best friends. Forever." He chuckled.

I nodded and smiled. I looked at the sky, I thought about my mom and how I'm gonna get in trouble..

I need to get home now.

"Hey, Gil, thanks for the picnic, but I gotta go now."

I helped him clean up, "Alright, see you at school!" He shouted as I walked away.

"See you!" I turned then continued walking.

I got home, but I saw my mom and she was furious. I knew she was gonna yell at me, but I'm tired and I didn't want to deal with her.

I went to my bed and finished my homework then closed my eyes and went to bed.
