Y/N's Pov.

*time skip to next day*

I woke up the next morning to one of our maids bringing me breakfast. I thanked her, eating my food, and leaving my plate outside. Since my parents thought that I did a good job last evening, they let me take the day off too, which was good news for me. I put the 'Do Not Disturb' sign outside my door, so that I wouldn't be bothered. I dressed in my normal citizen outfit and put a cloak over my head so that I wouldn't be recognized. I opened my window, carefully, jumped on the roof and closed my window. There were several tall trees near my room, so I used them to get in and out of the castle. I went on to one of the tries and made my way down it. There were guards everywhere, so it seemed hard to leave the castle at first, until I found a loose fence near the corner of the castle, which could easily be used as an entrance and exit. Thankfully, I was the only one who knew about it. I snuck my way past the guards, and made my way outside the castle. I sighed, feeling relieved to leave that 'huge prison,' as I thought it to be. I made my way down the streets, seeing children playing, Mobians talking, and shops selling. I stopped at one of the shops called "Tails' Workshop," and entered it. Inside was Tails the Fox, polishing a sword for one of his customers. He finished in a few minutes and bid them farewell. He noticed me standing there, and recognized me immediately.
"Hi Y/-"
"Hush Tails. Remember that this is a secret." I reminded him.
"Sorry, but it's good to see you. How'd the meeting with the King go?" he asked.
"You knew already?" I questioned, surprised.
"Of course. Everyone in town knew already. I mean, it's not everyday that you see a well-polished golden carriage ride through town with 3 knights, am I right?"
"Alright, I see your point. So how's work here?" I took of the hood of my cloak, revealing my face.
"Pretty good. Several knights came by to get their swords sharpened today. Probably since the King was here."
"Yeah, probably. Also, I overheard from another townie that you were courting Lady Cosmo."
"Huh?!" Tails blushed bright red, "Well- I- I am."
"Aww, that's so adorable." I squealed, making Tails blush more.
"Stop it Y/N. You're embarrassing me."
"Okay okay, I'll stop. So tell me-" I was cut off when I heard the door to the workshop open. I quickly pulled my hood over my head and turned to see who it is. My eyes went wide. It was Sir Lancelot, one of the strongest knights of the Rouge Table. He probably already knows what I look like since he had visited our castle yesterday, along King Sonic and his two other knights, so I did my best to keep my face from being seen. Lancelot looked over to me, which made me blush slightly, before going back to what he was doing before.
"I need Arondight sharpened for later today. I have a mission that I need to take care of."
"Of course, Sir." Tails took the sword and went to sharpen it. I carefully looked over to him, making sure that he couldn't see my face. He had taken off his helmet to take a breath in and out. He noticed me and looked over, his bright red eyes staring into my soul, while I quickly looked in the other direction.
"Have I seen you somewhere before?" he asked in a stern voice.
"W-what? O-Of course not." I stammered, trying to stay calm.
"Really? Then let me see you." he told me, which made me panic.
"I-I... well..." I tried to think of an excuse. He tried to peek under my hood, but I looked the other way, covering my face. I could feel Sir Lancelot's glare behind me, but I didn't make an effort to turn around.
"It's done Sir." we both looked over to see Tails coming back, holding Arondight, which looked much shinier than usual. He handed it to Sir Lancelot.
"Thank you. I bid you farewell now." I gave a quick bow, before putting on his helmet, before leaving, glancing at me quickly.
"Thanks Tails, you really saved me back there." I exhaled, relieved.
"I did?"
"Yeah, he would've found out who I was if you walked in then."
"Oh. That would have been bad."
"Yeah. I got to go before my parents call me down for lunch. Bye Tails."
"See ya!" I left the workshop and looked around for a moment, seeing where Sir Lancelot had gone. He had just vanished. Can't say that I blame him much. I shrugged and ran back towards the castle. I snuck in through my secret entrance and back up into my room. Thankfully, no one saw me as I made my way into my room. That was just as nerve-wracking as meeting King Arthur. I just hope that he didn't see who I was.
"Miss Y/N!" I heard a knock on the door, "Your lunch is ready." Right on time.
