The Party and Choice

Y/N's Pov.

For the remainder of the day, I spent time with Mother, as she observed how my behavior was before the party. Having a evening meal with King Arthur was a pretty big deal, but going to a party at his castle was an even bigger deal. The maids helped me get ready once more like yesterday, and my family was off to the castle of King Arthur. We rode there in a carriage (of course) and arrived right as the party was getting started. There were many Mobians there, some from royalty and some just as townies. King Arthur had allowed anyone and everyone in all of Camelot to come to his party, which I thought was really nice of him. I know that some royals would only invite other royals or high-class citizens to their party, so it was nice to see a slight change in that. My parents had told me to go enjoy myself, but still be on my best behavior, while they went to talk to the other royal families. I rolled my eyes, and started to walk around the castle. It was so huge, bigger than ours I'll say. I was, also, keeping an eye out for any of my friends to see if they showed up. After a bit of looking around, I spotted Tails, and he had come with Lady Cosmo, and B/F/N.
"Hi Tails!" I went over to them.
"Oh, hi Y/N." Tails came over to greet me, "How's it going?"
"Good." I responded, "Hello Lady Cosmo and B/F/N."
"Hi Y/N!" B/F/N said.
"Nice to meet you Princess Y/N. I heard that your meeting with the King went well, did it not?" Lady Cosmo asked.
"I guess that it did, and just call me
Y/N. No need for formality."
"That's good to hear. Maybe he'll will pick you." B/F/N teased.
"I doubt it, but we'll see." I looked around and saw several knights standing at their posts, and my eyes landed on a certain black hedgehog. Sir Lancelot. He looked to be prepared for anything, any attack against him or the King, not that it surprised me much. I mean, he is the mightiest of all the knights of the Round Table. I, also, noticed Sir Gawain and Sir Percival at their own posts, standing perfectly still as well. Must be kind of boring, just standing around and watching everyone else dance and have fun. I know that I would be somewhat bored if I had to do that for hours on end. I heard the crowd gasping softly behind me and turned around. Coming through the crowd was King Sonic himself. The crowd made way for him to pass through, each Mobian bowing as he passed by. Soon enough, King Arthur had made his way to me.
"Princess Y/N," he asked, holding out his hand, "May I have the next dance?" I swear, my face was redder than a thousand red roses right then and there. I was sort of hoping to avoid dancing today, but I knew that I couldn't avoid this.
"Yes, you may." I took his hand. King Sonic pulled me close as the music started, and we began dancing. Everyone was looking at us as we danced, which made me sort of nervous. I had never been observed by so many Mobians all at once, but I did my best to focus more on the dance than everyone else. We stopped dancing as the music had finished. King Sonic had cleared his throat.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to get your attention please." he started, still holding on to my hand, "I have made a decision about my future bride. I have decided that my future queen shall be... Princess Y/N of the Western Kingdom." Everyone had started cheering as King Arthur announced that. I felt like my heart was going to jump right out of my chest. Me? King Sonic wants me to be his future wife?! I didn't know whether to think of this as a good or bad thing. Good because I was marrying the King of Camelot, and bad because I hadn't made my own decision on my husband. Sure King Arthur was handsome and all, but I felt like I'd have preferred someone else. How am I going to deal with this?
