Shadow's Pov.

I held my sword high and attacked. Mephiles easily avoided it, and my next attack, and the one that followed it too. Damn, was he fast! But he wasn't teleporting to avoid my attacks. It appeared as if he was melting before vanishing into the shadows and reappearing.
"Gr... coward much?" I mumbled.
"Quite the opposite in fact. It's a plan to weaken you!" he suddenly sprang up and struck me with his sword. I was bounced back against the wall, but I stood back up again, as if I wasn't fazed.
"Shadow!" I heard Y/N call out in vain. I looked over to her, but Mephiles took that time to attack me again. I was knocked through the wall and into another room. I clutched my stomach in pain, and coughed up a bit of blood.
"You..." I growled.
"A perfect distraction to get rid of you." Mephiles smirked, his sword at his side. He approached me and grabbed my by the neck, preventing me from breathing.
"Stop Mephiles! Please, don't hurt him!" Y/N pleaded, tears in her eyes.
"Sorry darling, but that isn't possible." Mephiles responded.
"If you spare him, I'll... I'll be your queen!" I felt like my heart was going to break.
"No Y/N, you can't!" I begged her. Mephiles smirked, dropping me 0n the ground.
"Very well." he said.
"Y/N... please... I love you more than anything...Don't do this..." I begged, tears stinging my ears.
"Shadow, I- I love you too... but I don't want you to get hurt."
"Mephiles..." I stood up again, "I... won't lose her... I'LL NEVER LOSE HER!!!" the anger inside my boiled beyond it's limit. My fur became golden and my sword was glowing. Mephiles and Y/N both stared at me with wide eyes.

Sonic's Pov.

"What's going on?" we all ran into the room and saw Shadow turn golden.
"He won't give up because his loves Y/N that much." Nimue appeared behind us, "And it is that feeling that shall give him his victory."
