Shadow the hedgehog x reader: Silver Heart

Secret's out

Y/N's Pov.

The town was un-normally quiet today. Not many Mobians were out and about. I felt a little nervous, so I decided to made haste to Tails' Workshop. Something about the town felt... unsafe right now. I don't know why, but I felt as if I was being followed. I turned around, but no one was behind me. Probably just my imagination and kept walking.
"Hey, apparently a little hedgehog lost her way." I heard a voice behind me. I turned around to see a green hedgehog with a smirk on his face.
"Um... no, I know exactly where I'm-"
"Maybe we should give her a hand." the green hedgehog was in front of me now, coming closer. Suddenly, two other Mobians, a fox and bat had grabbed me from behind, and took me into an alley. When the let me go, I backed up against a wall.
"W-what do you want with m-me?" I stammered, trying to stay brave.
"Aww, look she's scared." the bat teased.
"What should we do with her boss?" the fox asked the hedgehog.
"Leave that to me." he grabbed my chin, holding my head up. Having no where to run, I did the only thing that I could.
"Help!" I called out, hoping the someone would hear me.
"Don't bother. No one can save you out of this."
"We'll see about that." I heard a familiar voice say. I turned my head to see Sir Lancelot there, which made me happy. I heard the green hedgehog curse.
"What? Here to save your girlfriend, Lancelot?" I blushed at the word he used.
"Leave her be!" he took out his sword, Arondight, and pointed it at the green hedgehog.
"Fine, but this isn't the end." the green hedgehog scoffed before heading down the alley, his two 'friends' following.
"Are you alright?" Shadow held me his hand once he put his sword away. I took it and stood up.
"Yes, thank you Shadow." This shocked Lancelot to say the least. I then realized that I called him by his real name instead of his knight name, "I mean Sir Lancelot!"
"How do you know my real name? No one knows except for the other knights of the Round Table and..." he stopped himself. He grabbed the back of my hood and pulled it down, which revealed my identity, "Y/N! What are you doing here? Why are you dressed like a townie?"
"I... I..." I sighed, knowing that I couldn't hide this secret from him anymore, "Please don't tell anyone, but I sometimes sneak out of the castle."
"Why?"
"That castle may be huge, but to me, it's more like a big prison. I found a way to sneak in and out of the castle and into town without anyone knowing. I do it to get away from the royal life sometimes, and live as a normal townie."
"But you could've been hurt if I hadn't heard you. That would've been terrible. Wait... It was you who was also back at the blacksmith's workshop that day. Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"I was worried that you might tell someone else, or think that this is bad idea and try to stop me. I'm sorry." I felt guilty, but Shadow only smiled and hugged me.
"I don't blame you for not telling me, and I won't tell anyone else nor try to stop you. I'll just be there to protect you when you need me to." Shadow grinned, taking off the front of his helmet. I never noticed this before, but Shadow's eyes looked just like beautiful rubies. I felt the heat rushing to my cheeks and my heart's speed accelerate.
"Are you alright, Y/N?" I snapped out of my thoughts to Shadow's voice.
"Huh? Yeah, I am. Let's get back to the castle." I told him and we started to make our way back. During the whole walk though, Shadow never let go of my hand, which did the same to me as when I looked into Shadow's eyes. What going on with me?
