(<A/n - This is a combination of chapter thirteen, and part of what I had planned of chapter fourteen, since it was gonna be a short chapter I figured I might as well combine both of them.>)

Ruffnut's POV

It's been a few months after Scull's death, a month since we left Berk. Though that's not my issue, (Y/n) left me in charge of Leif and (D/n) before locking themselves away in their hut. They were still lost in grief, but if we wanted to get rid of Rōnin once and for all we all needed their help. "Are we going to go see mom?" I looked at the now adult speedstinger as well as the adolescent stormcutter and nodded. While they both did consider me another mother in their eyes, they adored and cared about (Y/n). Just as much as I do.

I knocked on the door of their hut, both Hiccup and Briar tried to visit them earlier today. Keyword here was tried, they wouldn't open the door for either one of them. "(Y/n), please? Just open the door Leif and (D/n) are worried sick... I'm worried about you, please just let us in..?" It was more of a question than anything else, but it held nothing but the truth, no lies or gimmicks. Just the truth. I sighed and leaned against the door, I'll wait them out if needed.

It took a few hours before I heard their response to my question. What matters is that they responded. "Ruffnut... if I let you in, promise not to get the others?" They were vulnerable, I knew that they were just by the sound of their voice. "Of course, I'm just worried about you, but I wouldn't betray your trust like that." I stood up backing away from the door and heard a locking mechanism click before the door opened to reveal the Rider of Death, or a shell of what they once were anyway. "Baby...?" I slowly walked closer, not wanting to spook them or upset them more than they already were. I hugged them, holding then close to me. "For the love of Merlin. No for the love of the gods, (Y/n) I was worried sick!" I just held them. That's all I did, I glanced inside of their hut. It was a bloody fucking mess. Herbs all over the place, broken bits of glass scattered everywhere, clothes piled up in a corner and books stacked haphazardly on the desk capable of falling at any given moment. "Ruffnut..?" I looked at them to see tears forming at the corners of their eyes. "Shh. I'll help fix it, you don't have to do this alone anymore." I picked them up and carried them inside the messy, disorganized hut. I stepped where there wasn't any glass, so (D/n) and Leif could follow my footsteps. I sat them down on their bed, and handed them a fresh pair of (f/c) pjs out of their dresser. "Get dressed alright. I'll be taking your dirty clothes to be washed at the lake. I'll be bringing food back as well. See you soon, (Y/n)." I grabbed a huge heap of the dirty clothes pile and carried it out of their hut, closing the door behind me.

"Are they alright?!" That's the first thing the others all asked me as I sat the pile of dirty clothes down on the sandy beach. "They are okay for the most part, just distressed. They don't want any other visitors at the moment though." One by one I dunked their clothes into the water, making sure to get as much grime and dirt out as possible, and hung them up to dry with everyone else's dirty clothes. I sighed, my brother grabbed my shoulder and gave a gentle, reassuring squeeze. "They're not doing so good Tuff... I'm worried about them, so much." I broke down slightly, my brother pulled me into a hug. "It's okay Ruff, they'll be fine. They just need someone to be there for them, that person is you. Think about it." I looked at Hiccup who butted into the conversation. "They let you in, but didn't open the door for any of us when we tried to talk to them." Hiccup stated as he held Briar's hand. I nodded, both my brother and Hiccup were right as much as I hated to admit it, they were both right. "I'll be heading back to them now, I promised them that I'd come back."

I was walking back to (Y/n)'s hut with two plates of (f/f) and two wooden spoons. I knocked on the door, the door opened to reveal a very tired (Y/n). I smiled as they let me in the door, and shut it behind me. They sat down next to me on their bed. Maybe about an hour and a half later I arrived I noticed that they haven't touched their food. "(Y/n). You really need to eat something. Please, just a few bites?" Talking in dragonese, which Briar had taught the rest of us just incase, was fun but an absolute pain to do it fluently. I gently nudged the plate closer but they just stared at it. A few minutes past before I put my plate and spoon on their nightstand and pulled them into my lap, nuzzling my face in the crook of their neck. I give, they'll probably eat it soon enough. No point in forcing them to eat anyway. "You wanna talk about anything? You doing okay my love?" They reached out and took my hand, I gave their hand a reassuring squeeze. "I think..." they cleared their throat. "I think that I'm ready to move on, can't mourn for Scull the rest of my life." I smiled, and kissed the side of their face. "You missed..." I smirked, giving them a playful glare. "Well maybe if you were facing me then I wouldn't have missed, am I right?" I moved their plate and spoon to their nightstand, right next to mine. I turned them around to face me, before kissing them on the lips. My helmet slipped off and bonked them on the head. "Stupid helmet." I placed a kiss on their forehead, it was simple and sweet. Gods, I love them so much.

I ran my hand through their (h/c), (h/l) hair. They fell asleep a little while ago, the others left to go do something. I decided to stay here with (Y/n), just incase they needed me. I laid flat on my back, propped up comfortably with a few pillows, (Y/n) had their face buried in my chest, (D/n) was asleep curled protectively around Leif. It was actually peaceful, almost too peaceful. I dozed off, before all of us were startled by a loud piercing cry. "Ruff...?" Great. They're awake, they barely got any sleep too. "They're back, it's just the other riders my love. Go back to bed it's fine." The ear-piercing cry seemed to go farther away, and not as loud as before. They shifted a little bit, before getting comfortable once again. I felt their arms around my waist, I smiled, and wrapped my arms around them, holding them close and kissed their forehead. I noticed that (D/n) and Leif were a bit closer to the bed before going back to sleep. Soon enough, sleep found both me and (Y/n) as well.

Tuffnut's POV

The piercing cries from the newborn dragon hasn't stopped yet. "I still say we should take it to (Y/n)! They'll know what to do!" Fishlegs screamed at the others, hopefully they didn't hear him over the screaming dragon. I watched as it spat an amber-like substance at Chicken. Briar and Heather hummed a melody, and the cries from the baby dragon stopped. My ears were still ringing slightly, as I ran over to Chicken and snatched her away from the little nightmarish dragon. "Bad Garff! We don't hurt Chicken!" I scolded the baby dragon, it wasn't going to do anything. I knew that much, I just didn't want Chicken to become Garff's dinner. "Least the crying stopped." I mumbled as Hiccup walked over, and gently freed Chicken with a bit of monstrous nightmare gel and his fire sword. "Thanks for the help Briar, Heather." Hiccup stated as he finally got Chicken free from the now solid amber-like substance. He held a piece of it to his face to get a closer look. "Okay, so what do we do with the dragon?" "It looks like the deathsong we encountered earlier on when we were looking for an island to call home." "We aren't going back there, no way! Too dangerous for us and our dragons. (Y/n) wasn't able to reason with it then, they probably won't be able to reason with it now." I stated firmly. I wondered why both (Y/n) and my sister haven't gotten here yet, certainly they must have heard the ear piercing scream from the baby deathsong... right?

Rōnin's POV

" You let them get the deathsong?! You had one job!" I watched as the hunter left my tent, escorted by a few others, after they left, I got up and left closing the entrance behind me. "Back from lecturing the hunters so soon?" I nodded as I sat across from Viggo. "Don't stress over such a small detail. You'll get your revenge on those pesky riders for messing up our plans soon enough. It takes time and patience." I nodded, he was right. He always seemed to be right.
